I was in there somewhere during the big freeze of 1963. We helped to clear the snow off the pitch so the game could be played. I seem to remember the BBC showed the highlights that night because there were so few other games played around the country.
I'm just back from my dose of FA Cup fever at Corby Town v Hendon (my non-league team) Result 1-0, Highlight: Mass brawl in stoppage time with zillions of yellows and one red)
£6 to sit in "Grandstand" (Old codger rate)
£1 Tea
£5 Ointment to relieve my crick in the neck from looking skywards all...
Yes - just looked it up. It was my other hero, Jim Parks who made a glorious 90 or so against Yorkshire. I also remember a Dexter innings against either the Aussies or the Windies at Hove. Remember pursuing Wes Hall and Charlie Griffiths down Eaton Road after the Windies challenge match...
I think that was against Yorkshire. I can still recall him telling me and my pals to "F**k Off" when we asked him for his autograph behind the Pavilion at Hove.
I just saw this and thought, immediately that it looked like some sort of scam.
