The Best Job in the world?

My uncle had a great job. For 15 years he was a mystery shopper for Guinness and spent every day going to pubs, ordering a pint of Guinness and seeing how it was presented, tasted etc He then got a monster pay-off when they were taken over 20 years ago and retired at 52 or something rediculous...

    Restaurant 2012

I see Harry's is opening again as a restaurant. It'll be called 'Number 43' or something similar so it'll either be another English restaurant based at number 43 Church Road, or a Chinese that specialises in one dish only. Number 43. If this is the case I just hope number 43 on the menu is Kung...

    Welcome to chain Hove

Blimey try to keep up BG ! That's yonks ago. He took that one on as he wanted the Eclipse in Hove and had to take them both. He held it for a year or two, but sold it on to Terry at The St Mary's Gate in Arundel. It's since been passed on at least twice. Dave hasn't been there for around 6 years...

    Welcome to chain Hove

Eh? Hove Place still alive and kicking after a recent refurb. He's actually done it quite tastefully which is quite a surprise for everyone !

    Welcome to chain Hove

Blimey, The Star was sold about 7 years ago now I think ! Shakespeare's Head had to close as the lease on the entire building was up and it's all being turned into a hotel. London Road does indeed seem the perfect Wetherspoons location. I'd agree with you there.

    Welcome to chain Hove

He's on a hiding to nothing at that place in George Street. It used to be busy back in the day but of course now anyone who wants a coffee goes to the coffee shops and Trevorspoons sell their booze far cheaper than he ever could. He just can't win sadly.

    Welcome to chain Hove

He's cool. He's in very good form lately. If he's feeling down he can just pop along to The Cricketers and listen to the till ringing constantly.

Oh, and Le Lion D'Or opposite Trevorspoons is soon to shut and become yet another bookmakers. Coz there aren't many around those parts eh?

Can anyone remember the shops in the old Churchill Square?

Yes indeed. The butcher which was sort of underneath Churchill Square opposite the Western Front. I used to buy rabbits there for my greyhound.

Can anyone remember the shops in the old Churchill Square?

Oh happy days. It was all about Soft Centre or Gamer in those days. Gamer was in East Street I think.

    Restaurant 2012

I see the guys from Meatliquor are trying to open their first place outside London - in Brighton. I'm simply amazed they want to open it right where the smack heads and street drinkers hang out though. Right opposite the taxi rank known as 'The Smelly' by cabbies. Clearly no local insight and...

    Restaurant 2012

I find it mostly awful but with a few gems. The standard fare is mostly rubbish and the chicken tastes so little like chicken it's amazing. Sadly most of the dishes are chicken based. Chef serves up some fresh stuff though and specials up at the back. They also make their sushi on site which can...

****Official Match Thread - Leicester City vs Brighton - 7.45PM - King Power Stadium****

OK, we're back to full strength so I've had a bit of a naughty bet. The mighty full-strength Albion are 11/4 with *no bet for a draw*. That'll do for me.

    Feminism

The perfect example of this is Coronation Street. As it's mainly watched by women you can bet your boots that all men almost without exception are.... mentally ill, rapists, murderers, alcoholics, cheats, sex pets, perverts or utterly hopless cases. The women almost without exception are strong...

Do you always wash your hands post-business?

A subject close to my heart. Literally. I feel Bozza is being somewhat cruel starting this subject as some dirty bugger in a restaurant or take-away somewhere didn't wash their hands whilst preparing my meal recently and passed on their hepatitis. My liver is now completely knackered and I can't...

Whoever has the food and catering franchise chose what to sell. I used to work for Binghams when they had the franchise years ago, but not sure who has it nowadays.
