    Good mood

I too became disillusioned with IT contracting as a LTD. I switched from permie to contractor in 2007 and experienced the persistent decline in the value of taking all the risk as IR35 became more of a burden. Between 47 & 61 I contracted about 60% of the time [a 3-day-week if you will] and...

[Politics] Suggestions for what an incoming Labour government should do, once it has blagged its way in

On your tax suggestion, I assume you are referring to income tax? One flat rate would be unfair on the low income earners. If the treasury are to obtain a similar yield through a single flat rate, the rate would probably need to be around 30% So unless the taxable income threshold rises...

    [Brighton] Old Brighton Postcard

First one - "turn of the century"? Presume you mean 1899-1900 and not 1999-2000? Looks like maybe Arundel Castle in the background? Second picture - my little sister lives right on the bend there on Neville Road

[Technology] When did Facebook become a scam site?

I've always wondered if my life is missing something because I've never been on, nor had an account with, Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. Threads like this reassure me that my gain is greater than my loss. Crack-on kids ....

[Technology] disk error - formal sd card

Do you know what the previous format was? Eg FAT32, NTFS, etc. Some are easier to recover from than others. When were you last able to successfully view your dashcam clips? If ages ago, it could be there is no recent capture to recover.

    [Albion] Injuries

If the vehicle is an automatic and the injury was to his left leg this would still be okay to drive - assuming he was able to physically actually get in to the drivers seat.

[Albion] the "assistance" priority train ramp post-match

Blue badge holders only? Can you still obtain a blue badge for non-visible disabilities too? I assume yes? Assume the fast track is intended for those who physically struggle with longer standing wait times? Should someone with a non-visible disability eg deaf be eligible for a queue fast-track?

[Misc] Technical solution needed. Can you help?

I use one of these to do the same thing: called a WAP = Wireless Access Point Plug the Ethernet cable in from your Router [in the house] to the WAP [in the cabin] and then just edit the WiFi name and password on the WAP to match the Router and job's a gud 'un! Cheaper models are available but...

    [Finance] HRMC Submission

You haven't stated what your submission was for - e.g. Income tax, Corp Tax, VAT, NI , etc. [this may have a bearing] With your Gov.UK account log on you should be able to view "your account statement" which should show the amount you've paid in as a credit. If they have not correctly [or not...

Yeah I heard that. But by that time, I'd already mentally put the 2 homer commentators on ignore as they were really only interested in Dons I wonder if Johnny and Warren come over as overly biased to our opposition supporters?

[Finance] Boring but quick HMRC question..

Be mindful that HMRC are entering a period they lovingly call "SA Peak" - the deadline for SA submission [without penalty] is 31-Jan and many leave doing their SA submission until the last 5-6 weeks before deadline. Most/all HMRC IT systems have a change-freeze during SA Peak so as not to risk...
