No, most commercial bespoke development follows the "Agile" methodology.
Analyst captures some requirements and logs them in JIRA.
Architect draws some joined-up pictures.
Developer creates a non-functional GUI and they put that in front of the client / customer.
Then build out from that...
Good thread - I've never had to deal with a will yet [mum is 90 and dad 96] but eventually, no doubt, that day will come ...
Anyway, was talking to a mate the other day and he shared an interesting story.
He's an only child, but was very close to his nan who died about a year ago.
When alive...
Indeed. In one company I coded for, developers had to do a 3 month secondment to support to appreciate the value of understandable code and use of comments in code to help.
Also, we were trained to use "Hungarian notation" for all variables, e.g.
dBirthDate, cName, nAge, lMarried which also...
Yeah, but the extra insurance was another £40
Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Not sure where it went missing exactly. It was scanned as collected from the drop off shop and never seen again.
HERMES / EVRI is an acronym of thieving bastards.
I'll never use EVRI again! As Hermes they stole [lost] my laptop I sold for £400 on eBay and compo was a mere £20 - thieving bastards.
At least with Royal Mail 24 & 48 the compo is £150 - plus, I suspect their staff are generally more trustworthy ....
Back in the early 90s Mrs SS was Marketing/Events Manager at the Hickstead Hotel.
On my suggestion she wrote to all of our opposition clubs to see if she could drum-up some business.
From memory, about 10/12 teams took up the option and stayed over on matchday-eve.
Very quiet location and a 20...
Classic, moving the goal-posts.
It's cheating, but clever if you get away with it.
The blame should sit with whoever it was on the right end of the wall who wasn't joined up with the wall. Left a gap and Toney exploited.
Bottom line, poor defending.
Just substituting a couple of values for d to work it through.
Using d as -5 the code will return +5 [the Absolute value]
Using d as -10 the code will return +10 [the Absolute value]
Using d as zero the code will return zero
Using d as +5 the code will return -5 [5 - (5 * 2)= -5]
Using d as +10...
Great thread. Like many, I learnt to swim in the late 60s at the KA minor pool by my cousin who lived in Hangleton. Also did life saving, rubber brick, pyjamas in the 70s.
I have a strong dislike of indoor swimming pools, the smell of chlorine makes me wretch. I blame the KA for this lifelong...
Window 11 eh?
Always keep away from any new O/S for 2 years aka "the bleeding edge" - that gives them [Micro$oft] time to sort their issues out.
I'd suggest a Win 10 reinstall - you'll likely have a digital license so no issues doing this [rem to backup all your files first]
