I originally come from a small town in the west of Ireland of about 1400 people - four people from that town were convicted paedophiles - one a priest, one a Christian Brother and two were primary school principals who could be seen every day of the week at evening mass kneeling at the front row...
Happened everywhere - many of the Irish saints are old pagan Celtic deities. One of the more ironic is St Bridget (called after the Celtic goddess of Imbolc - spring - named Brigit) who was likely a Celtic druid who converted to Christianity and while she was alive 'could make pregnancies...
I think it was probably more of a case of 'we're f*cked - what do we do now? - I know - let's rob the body and tell everyone he rose from the dead - they'll believe us and we will be able to keep our religious sect afloat'
Personally I don't think the club handled Molumby's development properly. A number of years ago I saw him play for the Irish U19s and U21s and I hadn't seen a better passer of the ball in an Irish shirt for years. Yet when he went to Millwall he was used more as a box-to-box hustler and that was...
I wouldn't go that far - Ferguson is an exceptional talent and for an 18 year-old has so much more potential to fulfil.
Moran is a different type of player and I think will take a little longer to make his mark. If he is even half as good as what Ferguson could achieve then Ireland will have...
Moran would not have been given the contract extension he got unless the club's hierarchy thought a lot of him.
He is certainly very highly regarded in the Irish underage set-up and while he probably needs another year - he is a midfielder that Ireland so badly needs at the moment.
Oh - and by the way - on the comment posted in the title of the thread - most of the 'devout' Christians I know were and are paedophiles, misogynists, and all around scumbags who exploit anyone they could/can for a quick buck - and growing up in Ireland I knew/know a lot of them.
I am rather loathe to get involved in this thread - but this post caught my eye.
The idea that God might have dabbled in creating life elsewhere in the Universe but 'he may have done a few things that wouldn't have worked here, such as creatures that would be lethal to everyone, or that...
You are correct - racism is not confined to Caucasians - it is a product of oppression of one group by another. In its modern context it developed as a justification for the slave trade which was necessary for the development of capitalism. Without racism, capitalism will not have been capable...
And you could see his frustration when he missed it. But he really was feeding off scraps all night - his game doesn't suit having to play against two banks of defenders ten yards apart across the top of the box and Kenny's tactics (for what they were) didn't help - he needed a lot more balls...
Hughton is already the bookies favourite - but I can't see him leaving Ghana until after the African Nations (assuming Ghana qualify). Kenny will probably be gone in September after the games against France and Holland.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Lee Carsley get the job.
Wasn't going to happen - the Irish U21s were 3-0 up at the time.
Black Irish players have been subject to a lot of racism in recent times - it was inevitable that the players were not going to tolerate it.
Ferguson has a decent game - despite the fact that he got little or no decent ball into him. Looked like he might have pulled a hamstring at the end of the first half, but he played well into the second half until he was replaced by Adam Idah. Hope he isn't hurt.
Same thing happened in a game today between the Irish U21s and Kuwait - a Kuwaiti player made racist comments to a Irish player on the subs bench and the Irish team walk off the pitch (they were 3-0 up at the time).
