    [Politics] Brexit

I think that the point about time to market for new drugs is important but not always entirely clear whether this is negative or positive. I know that there has been much scaremongering with claims that "people will die", e.g. particularly in relation to cancer therapies...

[News] Tom Daley announces baby news

I find the language to be confusing sometimes. Sorry for the Daily Mail link but I am sure the world needs more parents like these (regardless of their sex): http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-4583732/Gay-couple-house-built-just-NINE-days-DIY-SOS.html Sorry if already posted before ....

"Student fees may have to rise or be diverted from teaching."

Worrying indeed and not for the first time. Now we have a cap on the final salary element (£55k?) and a strange choice of contribution-based systems. Interesting that people think that academics could get a 2/3 pension after 20 years. It used to be 0.5 after 40 and, as you rightly point out...

So imports of carrots, onions, potatoes [sic], cheddar, bacon and butter will be levied under WTO rules increasing their costs to consumers. As I don't purchase any of these imports this is not a problem for me. In fact, this could be good news for UK producers and more environmentally friendly...

I am changing my vote to the Libs

Eperience from Holland seems to show that legality has no real correlation with usage. Far better to take it out of the hands of criminals and regulate distribution by law. Legal in California and various US states now. I'd prefer to see alcohol criminalised, does far more damage to individuals...

    [Politics] Brexit

I had a conversation like this recently with a colleague of mine and his response was something like this public policy bolg he does here: http://www.southampton.ac.uk/publicpolicy/what-we-do/blogs/viewsoneurope/voe40-werner.page "The conclusion is unambiguous: it makes no difference to...

    Legal advice, family law.

I agree with this advice about solicitors, not always the most helpful way of resolving issues and if you are not the petitioner you do not need them for the acknowledgement of service when the proceedings are initiated. If you don't, and you would be silly to, contest the divorce you only have...

[Original Cardiff] Match off due to fog

Was that the first or second time that game was called off for a waterlogged pitch? Phil Stant was playing for us then and we had standing in the away end. No fog though on either of the three match nights

Who owned a Ford Capri ?.

I've still got one, but haven't driven it for a couple of years. Probably the most fun car I've ever driven because it has it's own endearing qualities.

    the HEALTH of our nation

I agree, but it seems that the majority of the population cannot understand a more complex message about healthy eating. Similarly, the idea of 5 x 20 mins of exercise (AHA & BHF advice) is aimed at the lowest common denominator. Sky TV, booze, fags and gambling make more important calls on many...

    the HEALTH of our nation

You can be fat and healthy. In US studies of cardiovascular health, body mass and fat distribution were found to be less important than levels of physical activity. However, in general body mass is inversely proportinal to physical activity and there is a strong correlation between that and...

War in Middle East - part XXVVVII

I quite like that picture too Algie. I also liked the picture of Palestinians in London throwing missiles at the police outside the Israeli embassy on a peace protest. Seems like anti-semitism is a popular pastime in this country and quite a few practitioners on here. Shalom.

War in Middle East - part XXVVVII

Interestingly the notion of Palestinian didn't really exist until around the 1920s. Most moslem-arabs wouldn't have regonised this at the time as the designation Plaestine was used to signify the a national home of the Jewish people rather than the Israel/Jordan it encompasses today - Jews come...

    Boxing Day Hunt

About 10 feet, thanks. It would have been much more fun with a pack of dogs, but that vermin insists on firing missiles first and we prefer to bash the dogs with crooks if they are going to spoil the kill.

:laugh::laugh: You've obviously trained your cats well and only feed them cat food from a 100% cruelty free source. It sounds like you live in a Jehovah's witness paradise.
