Generally didn't keep the ball well enough and were second best first half.
Transformed second half after the subs came on and looked the more likely team to win it. But draw was a fair...
My favourite player, along with Kit Napier. I saw his first game at the start of the 1970/71 season. I think he was dropped after that one game but came back later in the season and was then a fixture in the side through the 71/72 promotion and beyond.
Thanks for posting this link.
He made two excellent reaction saves yesterday, but he did also seem unsure whenever the ball was crossed into the box and I think it is reasonable to ask whether he does inspire confidence. Time will tell. Also his distribution wasn't that good. Sheff Wed made sure Calderon was not available...
I agree totally with mendoza - posted a similar though less articulate comment myself on another thread just a couple of minutes before.
I like El Abd's commitment as a player, but we used to have to worry about his petulance getting him in trouble, and now he has become a cheat in the way...
I agree that the ref was a total bottler and I'm afraid I said a few naughty words about him. But I was also disappointed in Adam El Abd's reaction, rolling about like a big fanny trying to get a fellow pro sent off. He was only pushed (quite hard) in the chest and wasn't injured.
Two that have already been mentioned stick in the mind - Zamora's chip at Bury and Willie Irvine v Aston Villa - 3rd in that season's goal of the season.
Also what about Brian Horton's diving header at Newcastle?
Seen a few games while on holiday in Cyprus. The best was Anorthosis v Inter Milan in the Champions League the season before last. The Cypriot team came back from 1-3 to draw 3-3. Great atmosphere with flares and flags and noise.
Hartlepool away was my last. Usually get to see about 10 games per season. Never been to Withdean but lots at Goldstone. Will be going to Falmer next season - in the Championship?
Kit was my first hero. I trained my missus to chant his name.
Remember the goal he scored (off his knee, the reports said afterwards) in that vital game at home to Bournemouth in 1972?
As for the ratings, agree pretty much with El Pres, except I thought you were a little harsh on Barnes who I thought played the target role quite well in difficult circumstances - wind, pitch, thugs - but without enough support. Was disappointed that Hendrie faded, but as you say he was getting...
Agree with Seagull Wedgee about Barnes, but after a few nice touches early on Hendrie faded and didn't offer enough support. Barnes showed a good attitude and decent control, hope he gets more opportunities. Also Arismendi looked good, apart from partial responsibility for 2nd goal. What we...
Pretty much agree with these marks/comments - except that Carole deserved a more positive comment on a good performance - and Navarro and Dicker having the same mark??? - Navarro was sound whereas Dicker was very poor today, capped off by missing an easy goal and having to let it go for an og...
Yes, for us Lincolnshire-based fans Peterborough's relegation will provide a welcome chance to see an extra game - and visit Bert Murray's pub (unless we win all our games and sneak up of course!) - but I don't see us playing Grimsby again any time soon.
