Any thoughts after the Etape announcement? Flights already booked for me. Taking in watching the Pros do it properly this time too as it's only 4 days after* *I say this whilst I currently have nowhere to stay but these are details that can be ironed out!

Yes I think the pain may be a tad more than last year as there is supposed to be an extra 1000 metres of ascent (up to 4500m) this time. Our campsite was full of Brits last year, which somewhat unscientifically backs up those stats.

My French is far from perfect but was Pau-Hautacam (as per all the rumours) just confirmed as the route for the Etape du Tour?

Done. A flood-lit track would be amazing. Can't see it happening but at least I've put my thoughts to the council...

Michael Gove. Strange but true fact.....

Doc: Tell me, Future Boy, who's President of the United States in 1985? Marty: Ronald Reagan. Doc: Ronald Reagan? The actor? [rolls his eyes] Ha! Then who's vice-president, Jerry Lewis? I suppose Jane Wyman is the First Lady?

Fourth Investec Ashes Test, England v Australia, Chester le Street 9-13 Aug 2013

i want to go and watch an hour of the Aussie innings in my lunch break. (After their lunch break) Which pubs that serve food are likely to have cricket on? I work centrally (North Laine) and am not fussed about the food quality in this instance, just don't want to waste time finding somewhere...

I imagine if you contact them via the site, they will be able to remove the offending record from the leader board. There are always people complaining about some 'inventive' totals in the monthly challenges and they are subsequently removed from the lists.

That's very good to hear (i don't want to go researching a load more companies again)! Clare has actually been my contact in early ramblings so far and has been most helpful. I was particularly impressed that the minimum order (10 units) for jerseys can be spread across the entire range of...

just realised (from the photo) that you used Champion System for the caps. After months of research I have settled on those guys to get some custom jerseys for myself and my riding chums. Original plan was to get them for L'Etape, but time ran out and I didn't want to rush it. Had some sample...

it really was stunning. Or "cry makingly beautiful" as Carlton called it earlier!

They are flying... Looks like they might just sneak inside my L'Etape time!

The start does look good. I was surprised that ITV recognised that though. Tuning in at 12 would usually only get you yesterday's highlights before the live coverage begins. My decision has been made. Watch them over the first 2 big ones and then get a quick ride in myself

Live coverage already on the free channel... are my eyes deceiving me? If only they had known when I booked these two days off that I was planning to watch all day yesterday and actually get outside for a bit today. Decisions, decisions...

The ride is on Sunday. I have heard about people who arrived on Saturday (and Friday night) and left on Sunday evening. It would mean missing out on some of the overall experience, but still worthwhile for the ride alone. I suppose in hindsight this year would have been ideal due to the relative...

Thank you. I think I have a lot to thank the aforementioned 'Brendan' for! Without the challenge of a wheel to keep up with it would have been all too easy to ease off and let the heart rate drop a touch.

Nothing to truly replicate the climbing unfortunately. I did repeats of the Beacon and the Bostal and with the latter often continued up and over to the A27 as the route back has longish sections of 5-8% rather than our usual tests of short, steep hills. Did a weekend in Exmoor and tackled...
