From what I’ve read, one hopeful aspect is that it was established when the Super League was thwarted that EU law allows a sport to apply restrictions that would be illegal in other sectors if that’s essential to protect competitiveness. It’s hard to believe they will collapse the entire...
Agreed. I’m not even sure it was Baleba at fault for the penalty either. None of the replays I’ve seen are particularly clear. if there was an offence, it’s probably a shove from Georginio on Sancho that left Baleba with nowhere to go.
Not great at SB but that’s utter balls. Off the top of my head, Villa and Sunderland defended worse than that for about 3-4 entire seasons between them! And there will be many more examples.
Bit like the Times saying we ‘collapsed’ again when Chelsea had their second goal disallowed. Ignoring...
I don’t think the high line is as bad as some make out. Have to remember that ‘goals’ ruled offside were examples of good defending, not bad. Deliberate on Albion’s part.
Can’t see it succeeding long term as things are though. Yesterday, there seemed to be a few times where there was a 30 yard...
Palmer’s free-kick was amazing. If he’d been made to take it from where the offence happened, he could never have scored. Looking at the stripes on the pitch, Estupinan’s pull back happened entering the 3rd one outside the area. Not that far beyond the centre circle. The free-kick was more than...
Ipswich ended 0-0. Granted, they clipped the post from an impossible angle - forced by Van Hecke chasing back. Forest probably broke the high line 3x. Got a softish penalty from one where the attacker instigated contact, missed a good chance (which may have been offside if VAR had checked) and...
Indeed. At around the time he got his first long injury, he was playing so well he was being touted for an England cap and nobody thought it was outrageous. Then we started asking him to bring the ball out from the back, plus more injuries, plus rarer starts, reduced sharpness and confidence…
Seemed like individual errors were more of an issue today than a high line, which most of the time works but doesn’t instil a sense of being in control. I wonder if this approach was more appropriate against less talented teams that couldn’t exploit it. Interesting to see how we adapt.
Probably easier to address a defence that’s conceding than a team that poses no threat. Just got to see whether Hurzeler can strike an effective balance.
I doubt Liverpool are delighted with the draw either. Away trip and, outside a couple of clubs, one of the most dangerous opponents in the competition.
It's quite annoying with our high line as it's distorting the perception of how many good chances our opponents get. A few misses that would have been disallowed anyway have already appeared in highlights and it's similar watching live.
There was an annoying one yesterday which could have been...
This really is pathetic on the club's part. It's not as if it was difficult to find a stadium site in the first place, plus you could easily get another 20,000 people in and out dead easily as the transport is such a piece of piss at the moment. I really don't know what Bloom is playing at.
