Very good business by our very well run club. I wish Big Bob all the best, but not against us. He did not do himself many favours though, so perhaps not the « the best », but no ill will.
Will still boo him though, against us, have to honor tradition.
I was thinking more of the NBA, where conceding a foul or giving a throw in is considered less of a negative than the last seconds ticking away. I just think you could give away a throw in or foil, where time stops, then organize a press defense for the restart and try to routinely put it in the...
Just watch any US sport. Fouling the opposition to stop the clock, kicking it out of touch to create time for a Hail Mary punt into the box. Honestly does not bear even thinking about.
And of course while the clock is stopped plenty of time for an advert... :shootself
No, it is not. Inventor would make a fortune, and most researchers are doctors and would never be willing to bury such a Medicine (neither would the non-doctors). However it is true that money flows disproportionally to the most potentially profitable diseases.
This is not american, I had never heard a sports score referred to as "nil" before moving to Brighton. As another poster said I initially thought "Nil all" was a euphamism for F*** all, not a scoreline.
I am being a bit argumentative, sorry but it is silly season!
I agree with you for most players. As the selling club will be more willing to accept a lower price (your examples are good ones). But if another Petro-state club wants the same player, and you do not believe there is as good an...
Number of years left on the contract does not matter if it is a competitive race for a player. Makes no difference to the acquiring team. Only means selling club is more likely to sell, but will still go to the highest bidder if there is more than one.
Sorry but I disagree with the comparison. The first 3 counties signed aging stars for reasonable, if inflated based on their current abilities, sums to try to build their local football league’s popularity. It was about football at least. The last two could never have self sustaining leagues...
Great thread, just a couple for me:
Patagonia - I do a lot of mountain hiking, and their waterproof shells are very reliable, put a sweater beneath it and it is my winter coat. I have had two in the last 15 years and second is like new.
Icebreaker - cannot wear any other base layer anymore...
I am in Lausanne, Switzerland. For now Geneva and Berne are both possible (they go to the CL playoffs but can end up in the EL). Both an hour away but would prefer Berne!
I also hope they stay, it will be difficult to find what we have here. Of course money and prestige will come into it, and they will both leave with my full admiration. However I honestly believe in the long run staying with us for a couple years will be the better move. The reality has always...
