Carter has shown he can't play in T20's let alone open. I know Clark was injured but Ward would have been a better option.
The loans manager is only really a role that has existed in football for the last few years. There aren't that many people experienced in that specific role.

I would be shocked if he left this summer. I can't see the club letting him go given a) we are already light in midfield b) he got our most assists last year c) we have lost one experienced leader already in Lallana
It also wouldn't make much sense if he was looking to go back to Germany ASAP...
