[Albion] Move back to the Withdean ?

Got it. Yeah, you make a good point. I can’t imagine traipsing across the country just to earn points to go to a different match. For me it’s about the love of watching the Albion, regardless of the opponent or even the quality (or lack of) of our team. That’s never changed and going to...

    [Football] Brighton-born Joe Sheridan

Horrific. I wish him all the best in his recovery. In his defence East Grinstead is Surreyish.

[Albion] Would the last one out please turn off the lights...

It all goes to show that the individuals at the club, whether they be players, managers or whatever are pretty insignificant compared to the club itself.

[Football] The Non-League Football Thread- 2023/24 Edition

What’s your connection with Bradford PA ? Do you live in the town ? Interesting club history. I did a bit of research in anticipation of Saturday. Seems they were briefly the main Bradford club in the distant past. To be honest though we are mainly going to the game to visit Rossett Park for the...

[Albion] Move back to the Withdean ?

I’m not sure I understand the link you are making. These days demand outstrips supply. We mostly didn’t have that problem at Withdean.

    [Albion] Liverpool Away Tickets

It is kind of pulling a fast one if the rules say they should be giving us more tickets now their new stand is open. The lack of availability of home match by match tickets is partly the club’s doing given their tacit approval of ST sharing and these being effectively’family’ tickets even when...

[Albion] Move back to the Withdean ?

Yes, I exaggerated a little. I was one of them in the first few years. The return to Brighton co-incided with good times on the pitch under Micky Adams and remains one of my favourite times supporting the Albion. After those initial few years the novelty wore off for me and I couldn’t wait to...

[Football] The Non-League Football Thread- 2023/24 Edition

I just wanted to say how much I enjoy reading your reports from Sussex grounds. We really enjoy visiting new grounds in the North West, usually NPL or NWCFL. We will be at Marine v Bradford PA on Saturday.

[Albion] Move back to the Withdean ?

Disclaimer; I lived Surrey/Kent border at the time so Gillingham was an easy drive. It was also a proper football ground though and I much preferred it to Withdean.

[Albion] Move back to the Withdean ?

Not just you. Everybody hated Withdean. I would happily have stayed at Gillingham until the Amex was built.

[Football] Was Mason Holgate’s horror tackle the worst in Premier League history? Here are five other shockers

Made worse by lack of a public apology to Mitoma or our club. I don’t know, maybe he has done so privately (and that would be fair enough) but it grates that Wilder has said Holgate apologised to his teammates for getting sent off but that’s it. It’s a bit like one of those meaningless ‘sorry...

    [Albion] Liverpool Away Tickets

I wonder if there is any chance of getting more tickets. Ground capacity 61 276 (according to Google). Away ticket allocation 2500 (according to posters on here). Doesn’t seem quite right.

    [Albion] Liverpool Away Tickets

That doesn’t happen anymore as the club clears the baskets. It’s just demand outstripping supply.

I didn’t say I’m not interested. I said I can’t get excited by accounts and by extension the Albion leading an accounts table. Is that allowed ? What’s your favourite song ?

I think you make good points and the business model is currently working. A war chest may be necessary for the years when we can’t sell a player for big money. Trouble is the financial goalposts keep moving. I don’t envy Tony making 5 year budget plans running a PL football club.
