If there are only 8,000 Brighton fans and no City fans that could work out well for us again. Let's see if we can talk the ref into another soft sending off.
For the benefit of anyone else still slightly worried about the risk of our goal difference taking a hammering tonight and Sunday... since the resumption of football after the World Cup, only Manchester United, Fulham and, er, Charlton have kept clean sheets against us; leave out cups and it's...
Great thread. Since the final whistle I've had to stop myself thinking about the European away days my wife would have been planning for us, because it hurts too much. She always loved a city break to somewhere with culture and history or, you know, Aberdeen. RIP Amy.
It feels like this rollercoaster season keeps accelerating. We had amazingly good games under Potter at the beginning, then a difficult patch under De Zerbi before the World Cup break, then a pretty good run that did include some unexpected dips like losing to Fulham or drawing with Leeds, then...
We need one win from the last three games of the season, and if we don't get anything from the next two it will all come down to the final match at Villa. I'm old enough to remember the last time that happened. Fingers crossed we make it over the line this time.
I still can't get my head around the fact that we're only two weeks from the end of the season and third place in the Premier League is still a possibility, however unlikely. Even a draw tonight would keep the dream alive for a few more days...
Exactly. Enough of this calculating permutations of our and other teams' results. Like Tony Bloom and Ivan Toney I'm a natural gambler: I want us to go for the win and the glory.
And I'm Scottish so heroic defeat also sits pretty comfortably with me if that's the outcome.
A few more performances like that by wee Billy before the end of the season and I'll be expecting a big money bid from Chelsea in the summer. Oh to be a fly on the wall when Todd Boehly finds out where we got him from. Or maybe they won't tell him...
TODD: WINSTANLEY! Get in here!
PAUL: (to...
We now can't end the season with more loss doubles (maximum possible five) than win doubles (five already; maximum possible seven). I wonder if this is the first Premier League season we've achieved that.
Obviously it's just a reflection of the fact that we've been having a good season and...
I've just rewatched the first half on iPlayer and I could hear "Everywhere we go" and "Solly, Solly March" as well as "Albion". Not as clearly or as often as I remember them being sung yesterday but that may just be that thing where the producers mix up the generic crowd noise so that the words...
Having gone expecting to be charged ridiculous prices for rubbish lager (which certainly was on offer) I was pleasantly surprised to find two gin-and-craft-beer stands where the prices were a little high but not wildly out of line with what you can pay in London or Brighton pubs. Service was...
Got back to Brighton station around 11. Left as soon as Lindelof's penalty hit the back of the net but had to wait a few minutes for friends from another block and ended up near the back of the queue down Wembley Way. We were lucky to get seats on the delayed 21:32 out of Victoria.
What I don't...
Because Newcastle draw too many games, Spurs don't score if Kane doesn't score, Villa had given them too much of a head start by the time they got Emery in, and we had a bit of a wobble when we had to change managers mid-stream. Liverpool are a spent force this season. Chelsea have imploded...
That was something that occurred to me during the game, when I'd previously been thinking that it was a shame they hadn't got a glamour tie against one of the Manchester clubs: those clubs and their supporters would probably have treated the game as an inconvenience on their way to contest one...
