I used to see a girl whose sister (Emily) was a long-standing girlfriend of Mr. Gillespie. We were invited to go as his guests to Glasto (possibly '94?) but I bottled it, due to his reputation for huge consumption of 'things'. I've always regretted that decision. :)

The first time I saw them was when they played on The Word - Supersonic, I think - and it was as clear as day that they were going to be huge.
