Hope it's OK to share a link to a 7-minute YouTube video posted this afternoon about Brighton-based teams' great track record in American (and Canadian) sports.
I know several of these teams have been discussed a fair bit on NSC in the past:
BRIGHTON TIGERS: The top British ice hockey team for...
I'm a big Red Sox fan. Flew out to Boston five times to catch multiple games (six over a fortnight on one occasion) as well as travelling to Toronto and New York for away games.
Yet the thought of watching them in Stratford doesn't appeal at all. The history and atmosphere etc of Fenway Park is...
Ranelagh has reopened this month. It's now aiming itself more towards a football rather than a music crowd, with a telly over the fireplace and a big Albion badge painted on the bar.
Very telling that the number is exactly 23, the number famously associated with the Illuminati. It's said that Putin (who dabbled with the organisation but never became a full member) has been increasingly 'at war' with the Illuminati in recent months. This looks to me like May demonstrating to...
I was going to add to the list of other Sussex breweries, but I realised it would take too long to type them out. I thought there were around 30, but it seems there are more like 60, so I'm sure there will still be something local to drink even if (and it's hugely unlikely) Dark Star's brews end...
Here's the MA report (which has a lot more detail than the OG one): https://www.morningadvertiser.co.uk/Article/2018/02/20/Fuller-s-announces-Dark-Star-take-over
A lot of Dark Star purists reckon the quality of the beers has dropped a fair bit in recent years anyway, ever since it switched from being a brewery run by brewers (most of whom left to do other things) and became a brewery run by PR/marketing types. Given the latter, a takeover/sale has...
The pub is owned by Enterprise, so the owners never change just the tenants. The tenants who took it on a year ago (and refurbished it hugely) only bailed out this week, so I expect it to be closed for at least a few weeks before Enterprise can find the next mug to take it on.
The new tenants lasted about a year. The Ranelagh is now closed down again with a notice on the door stating repossession by Enterprise Inns. Sadly the Enterprise business model (and the pubco's greed) makes the viability of small live music pubs very limited. It's odds on the Ranelagh will now...
I know the Sing Li chippie was a favourite of many NSCers. Mr Sing Li remains very ill in hospital and five pubs by the station (the Railway Bell, Sussex Yeoman, Battle of Trafalgar, Duke of Wellington and Caxton Arms) are collecting money today for his wife and three young kids, should anyone...
As the title suggests, I was wondering if there was a list somewhere online (or elsewhere) of the full internationals who have played for Albion. They don't necessarily need to have been a Brighton player when capped.
I'm specifically interested in finding out how many of the other 27 EU...
Hove Wetherspoons did a bizarre Halloween murder mystery evening thing last night, where they sectioned off a quarter of the pub and people had to wear 1920s dress and pay a tenner to get into it. Suffice to say it wasn't well attended (I can't really think of a less suitable pub clientele for...
The ten most haunted pubs in Brighton & Hove according to this video, which also says that Brighton is regarded as the most haunted city in the UK... (*SPOILERS* If you can't be arsed to watch it they picked from 1st-10th: The Southern Belle, The Cricketers, Doctor Brighton's, The Druid's Head...
I've been getting into YouTube in recent months and I'm surprised how many of the big name vloggers are based in Brighton.
The most popular YouTuber in the world, Pewdiepie (almost 60 million subscribers), for instance moved from Sweden to Brighton (along with his Italian vlogger girlfriend)...
The 107k costs is what Hopkins has to pay inmediately. The remainder will be due once all costs have been calculated. Monroe's lawyers have already said the final total will be over 300k. That's just Monroe's costs - Hopkins' own costs will presumably be similar. Overall cost (damages plus both...
Even the people involved in the application (who a friend knows) didn't believe the council would approve this in a million years:
http://www.theargus.co.uk/news/14910829.Restaurant___s_pie_in_the_sky___4m_expansion_plan_is_given_go_ahead/
It seems we're entering the age of anything goes when...
It genuinely makes me angry that these people offer a "light beers only" option but no "dark beers only" one.
I can't drink pale hoppy beer, largely as it tastes revolting (like sulphuric acid) and makes me sneeze. Where is my option?
The sooner this craft ale fad that has moronic publicans...
The cycle lane is shared space due to the building works at certain points (the rest of the prom - the wider bit on the beach side - is behind hoardings in these bits).
I like watching the women (they are always women) who ride a bicycle with a child in a six foot wide buggy hooked on the back...
I think you will struggle to find any academic (or educated person in general) who doubts that a bloke called Jesus Christ existed.
There are more than enough near contemporaneous (within a few decades of his death) accounts of his life by non-Christian sources, such as famous Roman scribes (eg...
