Just heading out of the Bay Area on the train to Sacramento - skirting the edge of Napa. Which reminded me of this thread, and what a delight Napa and Samona are. Well worth the drive, the new Bay Bridge is pretty spectacular as an alternative to the Golden Gate.
I used to go to Dylan Prime in Tibeca - a lot, 2001 -2003 - soon after it had opened. looks like they have had a refurb. Always a good experience in there.

I came back from Verbier 10 days ago, all pistes were in superb condition and the off piste was excellent too. Nothing was tracked out and there was fresh powder to be found with a little walking. That said it had just snowed then, and I'm not sure what's happened since, but it will be doable...

It is unfortunate that there is not more local choice, at least in Verbier. Hopefully it will inspire some locals to gert in on the act, and talking to a local in the food and drink distribution industry that may be the case.
By the way I don't think the burgers analogy works. None of the beers...
I'm on my annual ski trip, Verbier this year. Usual lousy choice of fizzy Euro pop in most bars, as is to be expected. But wait, last night in Pub Mont Fort they had a small, but very wecome, craft beer section featuring Sierra Nevada, Flying Dog, Brooklyn Lager and your very own Brew Dog Punk...

I think it is about protecting the small independents otherwise the process of consolidation continues, choice reduces and we are back at square one. I don't agree that it is about being 'trendy'.
