Three changes for England as Hemp, Zelem and Carter come in for Walsh, Toone and Kelly. Should mean Daly is further forward and more attacking - fingers crossed!
Definitely not writing them off - just happy to see that they aren't quite as invincible as they once were which gives me hope they won't win their 3rd World Cup in a row. They don't seem quite as together as a team, and are making mistakes that teams could capitalize on which may come into...
Just watched the USA - Portugal match and the USA were absolutely hanging on at the end and were a post away from going out of the World Cup. They finish 2nd in their group behind the Netherlands. The times they are a-changing (hopefully!)
Well a win is a win and it should be good enough to get us through to the knock out stages, but that got harder and harder to watch as the performance tailed off. Much to improve on as we progress through the tournament
After a good first 15-20 mins we've slipped back into being more hesitant and being sloppy. James strike was outstanding, but shes stopped doing runs, going for the ball much and Russo has been a bit anonymous. The Walsh injury definitely hasn't helped but we should be more than 2 up by now...
James continues to look a threat and we've had chances but still a bit sloppy at the back as Denmark come more into it. Hope we can get a second (or more) with all our possession
England vs Denmark this morning - 9.30am on BBC1 if anyone wants to watch.
England have made one change - bringing in Daly and for Carter at the back. Thought Daly might be brought in but further forward but I guess the expectation will be that she will push on. A win here will guarantee us...
Wonder if she will play in the must win 3rd game even if not fully fit?
Interesting to wake up to the news that USA had only drawn against Netherlands. They are defintely not looking quite as all-conquering as they once were.
We may not have been at our best, and relied on Earps to keep them out but credit for Haiti who gave us a tough game and never let us settle into our rhythm. Much for Wiegman to work on!
Ahead at the break, though definitely not an easy match as Haiti proving harder to break down and we're a bit sloppy at times. Wonder if Wiegman will make any changes at the break?
Despite the changes to the team since the Euros, we should have more than enough to beat Haiti this morning. Hopefully they won't do a San Marino and score first... 😜
So pleased for New Zealand - they deserved that win despite Norway coming back into it at the end.
Bad news for Australia for the second match today - Sam Kerr has picked up an injury in training and will miss at least the first two games.
Stott substituted - thought she had a good game on the whole including one very important block in the penalty area.
Norway already resorting to hit and hope - quite poor from them given their front line.
Been looking forward to this for ages, and particularly since England won the Euros. Our form has dipped since due to injuries and retirements but I still expect us to get to at least the quarters and hopefully all the way!
USA are no longer quite the dominant force they were but are just...
