Just occurred to me that Caicedo's agents have been worse than useless in this whole saga. Bloom's actually done a better job of "representing" Caicedo than his agents have.
I'm just glad it wasn't Chelsea. Their fans have been so obnoxious all summer.
Bayern was my preference, so we wouldn't have to play against him. But I'm kinda glad he and Mac will be together. I think that'll be good for Caicedo as a person - not just his football development, but his growth...
How funny would it be if Liverpool pay the asking price for Caicedo, we then "swoop" (because of course we do) for Lavia, and Chelsea are left wondering "what the hell just happened?"
Not saying that's gonna happen, but it would be hilarious.
Sometimes, when I get a bit overexcited, I force myself to look at the lower divisions and pick out the clubs that were once lauded as well-run Premier League clubs.
At a stretch, League 2 has three - Wimbledon, Bradford, and Swindon. But Wimbledon were a special case, I don't think anyone...
Okay, I'm going to get roundly mocked for what I'm about to say, and I'll probably deserve it. But I'm gonna say it anyway, just on the off chance I'm right and then I can say "I told you so" at some point in the future.
So, I totally understand the sentiment behind the feeling that Kudus can't...
I was so gutted when we failed to win promotion in that season, not just for all the obvious reasons, but mostly because it meant it wouldn't be Bobby leading us to the promised land. When he re-signed, I felt like this was it, this HAD to be our year. It was, surely, written in the stars...
I'm sure that's the case for some of them, but Grealish famously played for Ireland up to and including U21 level, and was the subject of a bit of a tussle between the Irish and English FAs when it came to his first senior call-up.
Did Russell Slade's Leyton Orient ever play Micky Adams's Port Vale? I imagine that game, if it happened, would have included a few ex-Brighton players.
I'll be a bit sad if this is true. I imagined and hoped he'd stick around and become a cult hero, but I can understand if he's decided he wants more than that.
I wonder if they've found a way to blame the vaccines for what happened to Fabrice Muamba, Marc-Vivien Foe, and all the other players who've had their careers/lives cut short by heart conditions pre-Covid.
If he stays another season, I honestly think the likes of Real Madrid and PSG will be in for him next summer (or maybe January, depending on how their seasons are going)
This is true, at least it's how it was when I worked in the criminal justice system many, many years ago. I suspect I would have heard if it had changed, because I thought it was disgusting back then and still do - it's the sort of thing that would probably have crossed my radar.
Signed last summer from that Danish side that has strong links in west Africa (can't remember the club's name, but I think Kudus also played for them), before being loaned to USG for the season. Posted very similar stats to Mitoma in his spell there.
All joking aside, this sounds like a proper Brighton transfer - some kid in Peru that nobody else in Europe seems to know anything about. I look forward to the press speculation in a couple of years about a £120m transfer away from us.
I'm only going off the highlights of the Chelsea friendly, but I thought he looked a bit leaner than last season (in a good way). Or am I imagining it?
What makes this so funny is that Chelsea are like 90% of the reason why the market is so crazy right now. Like, objectively, £100m is a crazy price for any footballer. But Todd set that standard in the last couple of windows, and £100m is just what a player of Caicedo's calibre costs now.
If he...
You keep minimising this as simply "a black eye", but the guy was pushed to the ground and kicked in the head. Either of those two actions could have killed him.
