[Football] The Non-League Football Thread- 2022/23 Edition

Good cup tie in front of 1,400 crowd. Worthing started better and deservedly took the lead when lanky kiddy with big hair came in from the left wing and curled a nice shot inside the far post. Seemed to even out a bit after the goal and Borough got back on terms before the interval thanks to a...

"Ink erasers" were brilliant. Basically like a sort of sanding block to scratch away the paper fibres.

Draw at Hove. Some encouragement - allied to necessary developments at the club - to sustain the faithful through the winter months... Intrigue at Edgbaston.

[Cricket] Sussex CCC- 2022 Season Edition

I'm glad I don't have to talk to you in real life...:lolol: The obvious point - well understood by anyone who has ever played cricket - is that tracking the path of the ball with enough confidence (inches matter) to make decent LBW calls when no bat is involved is infinitely easier to do than...

[Cricket] Sussex CCC- 2022 Season Edition

Good stuff. For what it's worth, a very fine umpire once told me that he found judging LBW when no bat involved (like Tom Clark's) to be relatively easy and he backed himself to be right with a high percentage. Where he made more mistakes - based on trustworthy feedback from players - was with...

[Cricket] Sussex CCC- 2022 Season Edition

This is right. LBW from wide of the crease is perfectly viable if the ball travels through in a straight line as on a drawn diagram and the batsman is trapped around middle and off on the popping crease. Clark's dismissal wasn't close to fitting these criteria and has been correctly...

[Cricket] Sussex CCC- 2022 Season Edition

Good analysis to talk about being able to just see leg stump and the point of impact. Two problems. 1. The sheer geometry of the angle of the ball flight from where he's bowled it.. Point of impact to be hitting leg stump would actually have to be outside off stump unless it's straightened...

    [Finance] The Mortgage Market 2022

Santander were at 3.4% last week for me to do a remortgage on 5 yr fix. Is that likely to still be available at around 3.9% now?

Will this mean 5 and 7 Year Fix rates jump up now? Seems a bit counterintuitive when this rate rise was baked in already...???

Outrageous umpiring has contributed to that. Kept us out there in the dark last night and at least 3 very dodgy LBWs against our lads in the match.

Certainly was. Very predictable struggle for Sussex today sadly. Best wishes to debutant Charlie Tear.

[Albion] Albion betting. BetVictor offering 2/1 on a bottom half PL finish.

Your analysis suggests the true odds should be much closer to Evens than 12/5.... definitely a value bet IMHO.

[News] Energy bills to top £4200 at the start of next year

Helpful analysis. I fear a lot of people are going to waste a lot of time and angst trying to save themselves only a few quid. My understanding is that our gas bill (central heating and hot water) is where we should best focus our efforts in order to get close to a 4 figure annual cost difference.

[Albion] Albion betting. BetVictor offering 2/1 on a bottom half PL finish.

Agreed. And a good example of how a punter can sometimes profit in a betting market due to above average knowledge/understanding. No use to a compulsive gambler (we just find another way to get a buzz and lose our money in the end) but very useful to someone finding value systematically.

[Albion] I think we do need to talk about Bruno

Paddy Power (10/1) and Coral (12/1) are strangely still taking bets on Bruno to be our next permanent manager. Notoriously flaky market. William Hill have Saltor priced up at 50/1...

[Albion] Billy Gilmour SINGED on a four-year contract

I thought the same after watching about 30 seconds of footage the club shared from the training ground. Lovely touches and use of space - clearly an excellent footballer.
