Bernstein and Sondheim were brilliant but so were Rodgers and Hammerstein. Different times . For me Showboat by kern and Hammerstein was the musical that changed musical theatre the most. Slavery, mixed race, and some wonderful tunes.

The fifties for me. Left school, first job and girls, girls girls! The change from wartime restrictions and the formality of that era swept away by rock and roll. Life was never the same.
Thanks for the mentions! Unfortunately Covid hit me 4 weeks ago and I was poorly and have not fully recovered. One consequence is I have lost ability to concentrate so wordle at the moment is a no go for me. Hope to be back to normal some time. UTA
