[Music] Knowledge you've acquired through songs or band names.

The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner is anything but “dry” but yes, Maiden gave it a certain kick. One of my favourite pieces of writing though. It’s tremendous.

First heard of Nicholas Van Hoogstraten via Carter USM’s Sheriff Fatman song “Moving up on second base behind Nicholas Van What’s-his-face”.. It intrigued me enough to ask my stepdad who he meant. No internet in those days.

Trimming my beard. I make a right hash of it. I leave it to my barber.

I get what you mean about the yellow one. It gives me some anxiety too 🤣 I only ever use it for Lemsip when I am poorly. It’s designed so you can “cup” the bottom with your hand. But yeah. I know what you’re saying.

Sorry. I realise posting a pic of my mugs is odd.

Totally identify with that . Have to have regular shaped mugs. And they have to be white inside. I won’t drink out of cups/ mugs that are dark inside. And yes 😔 they have to shelved this way with the handles to the right. I know.

    [Misc] Odd habits ?

It’s tricky with autistic traits and sharing space with people. I recall another ex I lived with hanging clothes out to dry in a very (to my mind) slapdash fashion. When she left the room I rearranged her clothes and when she saw whit I’d done, went spare for my interference. I didn’t get...

    [Politics] The Labour Government

If anyone thinks the government isn’t going to use the working people to plug the gap in the defecit, they’re dreaming. Historically the working people have always shouldered the cost of corporate and governmental gambles that don’t pay off. We’re mugs. Kier Starmer is not one of us.

We won’t raise taxes for working people. Raises bus fare cap by 50% from £2 to £3. I’m trying to be patient but my God, they’re testing me. Are they deliberately targeting the poorest in the community?

    [Misc] Odd habits ?

Not many but I am a bit of a neat freak. But that also applies to drawers and cupboards, under the bed, wardrobes , loft space etc. If I know there is disorder or mess tucked away under the surface, it drives me to distraction. I can’t function. Everything has to be in order and in its...

I’m exactly the same. Especially hanging out laundry and changing bed sheets. Gotta have something to listen to.

    [Politics] The Labour Government

This is one of the calmest , most reasoned political debates on NSC we have had for a while. I think your are being a tad harsh. A lot of people simply aren’t convinced by Labour’s efforts so far. I for one am willing to see give they do. Wednesday is their first real test . I am not...

One should think hard before accepting a job where the boss pays the absolute minimum they can legally get away with. You already know what that boss thinks of you.

[Misc] things historians got wrong about the Dark Ages

The dark ages weren’t as “dark” or unenlightened as people are lead to believe. It’s a commonly held belief that once the Romans left we were plunged into a cultural, technological, and spiritual wasteland. The fact is we were a cultured isle before they arrived and we remained so after...
