    [Football] Spurs Owner

Not sure how it would work in practice but dazzer6666 post above indicates that ongoing fit & proper is a requirement of the rules.

Thanks for posting. Seems similar in principle to the financial services sector requirements. Wonder if they will be brave enough to enforce it.

[News] Royal Mail household delivery service.

I still like a bit of post. In particular, there’s so much on-line fraud that I like to have my key providers (eg financial) to confirm certain things in writing eg change of password, address etc

Maybe, but surely the “fit and proper” test should apply on a continuous basis, not just at acquisition?

    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

So, Russia calls a meeting of the UN Security Council to protest about the west supplying arms to Ukraine. You really couldn’t make it up!

[Football] Agreeing with Simon Jordan 😬

Absolutely- we’re run by a better and smarter man. I don’t feel our club has bought success, but I agree with Jordan’s comment that Bloom has brought the club back - by every measure (playing and non playing) he’s done that.

    [Football] Talksport

It gets boring at times, including yesterday morning. I got a bit excited when they started talking about the general malaise of poor old Palace, but it went on and on and on - after 45 mins I almost started to feel sorry for them.

    [News] Muriel Hart RIP

And “if in doubt kick it out” . Don’t think he’d have liked the RDZ fannying around at the back

[Football] Agreeing with Simon Jordan 😬

Not everyone wants to do it that way because the vast majority are not true supporters of the clubs they’ve bought. Bloom is a true Albion supporter and if any of has had his money we’d also have spent £400m on the club (some of you would have spent more!).

    [News] Muriel Hart RIP

RIP Miss Hart, though I think it would be fair to say that I enjoyed Tony Geerts’s football coaching than her music lessons.

[Football] Parental advice needed for a father of a 14 year old ref.

So sorry to hear of your lad’s experience. I’ve been involved in youth football for many years and sadly this type of thing is not uncommon - even though you’re supposed to have passed a safeguarding course to be a coach. Quite recently one of our club officials had to ref a youth match because...

[Football] The Non-League Football Thread- 2023/24 Edition

Tight match at Lancing today, home side losing 0-1 to Cray Valley who are 2nd in the table and maintained their 100% away record. Lancing matched them throughout and came close to equalising. Hopefully they will stay in touch in the promotion chase.

    Bell Cheeses at work

Sounds like you had to make a tough decision 11 years ago! My decision was a bit more recent than than yours but for similar reasons plus I became fed up with corporate “bull” and increasingly unhappy at the largesse of the board / senior management team remuneration, of which I was part. The...

I’ve been pondering on how best to respond. The photo in the post below yours makes it a difficult choice.

    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

That may well be true - but they didn’t do it by bombing the hell out of it.

    [Other Sport] Bar Billiards

I’ve got a shove ha’penny board…..and bagatelle. But I’d love a bar billiards table and I have room for it…..but just need to sneak it in when the wife is out.

The Wilmy is still there but I don’t there’s a bar billiards table - I played along the road at the Ladies Mile.

    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

CNN reporting Ukrainian drone attacks near St Petersburg- unsuccessful apparently but interesting again that Ukraine is able to take the war a long way into Russia.
