For me, Caicedo’s stint with us is the best I’ve ever seen from a midfielder at the Albion in terms of all round ability.
Bissouma was the most fun to watch, with by far the most flair, but Caicedo is a more rounded footballer.
Baleba is still such a work in progress. He’s started this season...
Honestly, I think there’s so many variables that are still up in the air that I think it’s impossible to really tell. We’re a good side, there’s no doubt about that, but I can’t honestly pin point whether we’ll improve on last year yet, as I’ve just not seen enough of the new players. I also...
Whilst I understand that many are frustrated with him, he’s actually been a key part of a number of attacks over the first 2 home games. He put the ball in Welbeck’s head on 2/3 occasions against Man Utd and Ipswich, and played a great ball through to Ruttner who should’ve scored.
This is also...
It’s the two 8 positions that are causing this. They’re so high and wide when we’re attacking that they’re not in a position to press efficiently when the opposition win the ball back. To be honest, it was much better with Ayari in there today rather than Milner, as Baleba had some help at...
He played as the only DM at home against Man Utd where he was basically the best player on the pitch.
And, as I said, I’d have had him further back and allow Baleba to be the runner further forward.
But it’s a preference on style as much as anything.
Right, but they weren’t marking him. One guy was marking him, the others just shifted over to offer support when he got the ball because they had a deep defensive line that only had to shift a few yards every time.
This is an issue for our manager, and his inability to change the game to...
I wouldn’t say he was marked by 3 players. They, unsurprisingly, sat really deep, and just shifted the 5-10 yards over to his side when he got the ball.
The bigger issue is the lack of movement outside him from LB. It makes it much easier for defenders to crowd Mitoma out.
Bart 7 - good with his feet, made the saves he had to make, claimed what he had to claim.
Veltman 6.5 - excellent defensively, but offers nothing going forward.
JPVH 7.5 - excellent again. If anything, I’d want more from him in progressing the ball.
Dunk 6.5 - decent with the ball. Got beaten...
