[Football] Cost of living situation and the impact on football

I have a Network Card so can get a one day travel card off peak for a 18.30 if I am going to London but if you planned enough in advance you could get bargains if you were going north of there. They seemed to stop last season although that might have improved since.

[Football] Cost of living situation and the impact on football

One thing putting me off away trips - other than some kick off times - is there doesn't seem to be cheap advanced rail tickets anymore. At some point people cancelling Sky Sports subscriptions will have an impact.

Would have to go through parliament again, although I don't see it happening.

Main Coronavirus / Covid-19 Discussion Thread

My suspicion is there won't be any further Covid restrictions put in place but if you do have to wear a mask on public transport come Winter then stop moaning and wear one.

[Politics] How long can Johnson survive as PM?

The left of the Labour Party have returned to their normal position, briefly interrupted when some MPs neglected their role as gatekeepers and decided the 2015 leadership contest needed to be broadened out and nominated Corbyn, of criticising the leader and plotting without the numbers to...

[Albion] The Greatest Player to pull on an Albion shirt (to date)

Best player for Brighton - probably Mark Lawrenson. Most talented player to turn out for Brighton - Vincente by a mile.

    [Music] Glastonbury 2022 line up

If you have a passing interest in popular music then there is more than enough to keep you entertained but that is only half the Glastonbury experience. Wandering round with a pint is one of life's truly great journeys.

[Politics] Tory meltdown finally arrived [was: incoming]...

I think the sea change in Worthing has been down to a few factors. The demographic profile of Worthing has changed with people moving from London and Brighton to bring up families, meaning the Conservatives can't rely on the retired vote anymore. The local Labour Party had increased membership...

Main Coronavirus / Covid-19 Discussion Thread

I am not sure there is a lot to add to the conversation anymore. Face coverings have largely been given up on and people have decided if they thought the restrictions were proportionate or not and won't be moved from that opinion so why bother anymore?

[TV] Forget your GB News, a new beast is on the way

A channel that will split the already small market inhabited by GB News that no one will watch, after the initial morbid curiosity phase, who didn't agree with them to start with. I find it difficult to get excited about it as they can't get too carried away without OFCOM stepping in.

If only people had protested at the time. Oh sorry, they did.

Absolute twaddle. Any government in a democracy attempting that wouldn't remain a government much longer.

I don't recall anyone actually suggesting putting electronic alarms on people's door or kicking them out their homes to disinfect them but you crack on.

Easter always creeps up on me so I never plan anything.

[Politics] Tory meltdown finally arrived [was: incoming]...

If you sit on the sidelines because you think that all politicians are the same then you are part of the problem. The reason indifferent or poor politicians stay in office is lethargy from the electorate. It might be the least worst option to you but it is still your duty to turn up and vote.

    [Football] Matt Le Tissier

The reason the MSM - an expression I hate, incidentally - got Iraq wrong was because their main source was the government who acted on bad intelligence. Once it became clear a mistake had been made about the WMD they changed their tune. There is a world of difference between getting it wrong...

[Politics] If you could 'reset' Britain, which historic point would you go back to?

Sometime between Labour taking power in 1997 and the Iraq invasion. With hindsight Blair should have called an in-out referendum on EU membership at the height of his powers and probably won it comfortably.

Main Coronavirus / Covid-19 Discussion Thread

We also still have a highly infectious disease that is more than capable of keeping healthy and vaccinated people off work for a few days and can easily work through an office or other workplace in no time. The fact a lot of places are still at least partially WFH is keeping a lid on it at the...

    [Other Sport] The Academy Awards

I don't think he should have said but I don't think he should have got on stage in front of the viewing world and punched him over it. At least Chris Roll didn't press charges.
