Fairly well documented that having immunity might mean you just get it less seriously as that is how the vaccines work.
Without wishing to reheat old arguments wearing a face covering is more about protecting others than yourself so the state very much had a say in it during the height of the...
TBH it's a bit of a side issue as it is only one part of the immune system. From what I can gather there is not a lot of information on how long immunity lasts after antibodies disappear.
It might very well be time for us all to start building natural immunity now but I don't think it was a...
They are fairly sure you have antibodies for about six months although less sure how T-Cells and B-Cells come into play after that. Regardless people have had it twice.
I only had my second vaccine in mid-June and there were people who hadn't had a chance to have theirs by early July. I...
I do actually agree with the broad sweep of restriction being brought in and lifted, although I would have kept face coverings mandatory for a bit longer last July to allow everyone the chance to get vaccinated and would have been tempted to keep at least some of the current restrictions until...
From memory when we first found out about Omicron no one was sure how dangerous it was, although we had a good idea fairly soon afterwards, and it doesn't take much to overwhelm the NHS after a decade of under investment.
It would have been a brave move to let it rip, plus a lot of people...
Last July we were mainly concerned with the much more serious Delta variant and not everyone was vaccinated plus natural immunity from Covid disapears after six month tops.
That's a slightly different question, as is the cost - financial or otherwise - of stricter restrictions. The question I was addressing was the last round of restrictions in Wales made any difference to infections, which they most definitely did.
To be fair South Africa is a younger less...
We are discussing current, although in both examples soon to be changed, restrictions oin England and Wales. You have said Wales went too far and I have pointed out they have half the infections England does at the moment. As you are the first to point out what happened six months or a year...
Figures I gave were updated yesterday so fairly much the latest.
The fact remains that Wales currently has less than half the rate infections as England. To say their current restrictions haven't made a difference in people catching Covid is untrue.
I am not the one trying to criticise the...
There has certainly been a rise in things like flares and people going on the pitch of late.
I know people have a romantic view of the era but I tend to find football hooligans a bunch of annoying middle aged blokes who should know better.
Not sure that going over the whole pandemic is relevant to the current infection rates are. Last 7 days infection rates are:
Wales 16,025 505.6
Scotland 31,399 574.4
Northern Ireland 23,121 1,219.8
England 550,099 972.8
Granted a bit over half now.

I suspect Covid has accelerated a trend that had started beforehand of more working from home. Certainly the place I was last contracting at got rid of the office we were using, which I suspect is quite common.
