As I've stated before, I would like to see the cut off a little higher, but don't know of any simple way of measuring it. Higher rate tax will currently hit 10% which would not achieve any significant savings, council tax band will measure accumulated wealth with absolutely no regard to income...

I think that this story is confirmation that large parts of the world have realised and have been working together trying to resolve key issues like this for years. Britain however, has decided to take an alternative approach ???

I agree with all you say and the EU have done well here in getting some large multi-nationals to start paying some tax, but the chances of an individual nation like Britain trying to take on multi-nationals to make them pay ? Two hopes and I'm afraid Bob is long gone :shrug:

Exactly. A few years back, you'd go down west street, have a few beers and then have a fight with a few other young, vulnerable, impressionable kids in their first flush of alcohol and testosterone. It's the way it's been for the last few generations. Not any more :wink:

I had a very similar life, single parent council estate upbringing, struggling to buy my first property and then working extremely hard to give my kids a good start (and better than I got :thumbsup:) I had a chat with my kids recently and they're happy to share the first million between them...

When it dawns on American and Australian car designers that sometimes cars go round corners, I think we'll see some big improvements in their designs :wink:

The only problem with using the higher rate income tax as the definition, is that would only effect 10% of pensioners currently (although predicted to be 20% by 2027 if tax thresholds and triple lock stay). Interestingly 11% of the overall population pay the higher rate but are just about to be...

So we agree that there is a case for stopping the universality of the WFP. I would like to see the cut off line slightly higher than that proposed currently and have been trying to think of a simple way to manage it, but can't think of a simple, quick and easy solution slightly above the...

If it was me, I would (and normally do) hire a left hand drive car as soon as I get 'abroad'. Find it far less stressful :thumbsup:
