    New Zealand - South Island

Blimey, I should really keep up to date on this thread more often. It seems half of NSC are heading out here. If anyone is in Christchurch on their holidays and fancies a cuppa my PM box is always open. Always happy to talk Albion, Sussex, and bonfire with people.

I bought myself a new GPS yesterday. Took an extended route home tonight from work (with less traffic lights than normal), and looking at the results on Strava I thought he cadence made for a pretty interesting/geeky graph. My rolling cadence seems pretty consistent at around 90RPM.

Bike is with the mechanic for a check over. Slightly bent front wheel, an I don't do truing, but was rideable so can't be too bad. I definitely ache that's for sure. Tomorrow morning is really going to hurt I reckon.

Well that commute could have gone better. Tree sap + very light rain = greasy surface. Trying to corner on it at ~20MPH meant the bike just shot out from underneath me. Covered in road rash and general aches.

    [Technology] Cloud Storage

Give it another 10 years and I suspect long term data storage will be on DNA drives. Slow ass read/write but can hold tremendous amounts of data.

I'd recommend a Synology NAS. You'll get way more value for money from it, than paying some random to hold onto your stuff. Get a 4 bay NAS and have 4 big ass drives in the right RAID formation and your data is doubled up. Ideally get two different types/brands of drive as if you get 4 identical...

May seem like a weird system to almost everyone, but it works for me.

    [Football] The Brighton Kop

In 30 years of following the sport, you'd think I would have picked a team by now, but nope. My support has just ended up as a floating franchise drifting between cities like most teams do.

    [Football] The Brighton Kop

Because I can enjoy it without any tie to a team? Surely that proves the very opposite. :ffsparr:

I choose my NFL team at the start of each season based on a random number generator. I have no affiliation with any team but enjoy the sport.

Random question for here, but where do people stand on calf tattoos on cyclists? I'm tempted to get another tattoo and considering on my calf, but is it a bit obnoxious when on the bike? For anyone interested, it's not cycling related. Would be a Buster Sword from FF VII slicing into my leg.

    [Technology] Console purchase advice

Of the consoles at the moment, unless you're a fan of a particular franchise (Forza, Gran Turismo, Mario, Unchartered) then I'd be inclined to get a Nintendo Switch. I can't believe I'm writing this as the last Nintendo I owned was an N64 and I'm not a big fan of their YouTube tactics.

Beautiful dusk in 8014 tonight. Enjoy the game one and all.

I'm still a huge fan of Exposure (can't remember how many X's I'm meant to put in their name). I've still got one of their first gen lights. It's battery life is a bit short now, but does a week or two of winter commutes without any issues.
