None of us know who Carl Rushworth is. Leeds are on the verge of discovering him and unleashing his talent, which has so far been unrecognised with only 2 POTS awards in 3 seasons.
With stuff like that, I think people just have very little concept just how good elite-level sports people are compared to the average Joe. If you were to have watched the women’s marathon earlier, they made it look like they’re running an ‘easy’ pace, but they’re actually going at around 3:25...
Tell you what though, it’s motivated me to get back into competitive running and triathlons now that work commitments have reduced. My targets are however somewhat more realistic.
That’s just insane. People genuinely think that the competitors at the Olympics have just practised really hard for the last 3-4 years.
Obviously they have, but they’ve mostly practised really hard at their sport since they were kids and also happen to have an incredible amount of natural talent.
I even liked the opening ceremony! Certainly a brave departure from the traditional stadium routine by having the athletes come down the Seine in boats.
That’s been one of the great things actually, in that they’ve tried to do as much in the centre of Paris as possible, and that included the...
More or less done now. It’s been a fantastic 2 weeks of sport, and the French have put on a great show.
The Rio games had nothing like this atmosphere and buy in from the Brazilian public, and the Tokyo games were just ar an unfortunate time.
I’m really going to miss it all on Monday 😔
Reckon KJT will be ruing that mediocre (by her standards) long jump. 10cm more would’ve been enough for gold, and she was about 50cm short of her best.
I’ve watched and enjoyed all sorts of sports that I’d never previously seems in the last couple of Olympics - skateboarding, kite surfing, speed climbing etc - but sorry, break dancing does not belong. I was expecting Brucie to come on at the end to announce the winner of that gold-medal ‘battle’.
It’s been a really good games for us track and field wise, despite some agonisingly close 2nds. We seem to have had British interest in most finalsc, and as things stand, we’ve won the 2nd most medals.
Great player in his day, but the Brighton version was very inconsistent. Some amazing flashes of flair, pace and skill but truth is that most of our best games in seasons 11-13 were without him in the team.
Our best and most influential player at Championship level was Knocky. From the moment...
This is generally my philosophy on NSC. Although I’m getting RSI in my thumb scrolling your posts.
It’s not that I find them particularly disagreeable; I just can’t be arsed with several paras each time.
