I remember conversations waiting for the train at Leicester about how shit new signing Pascal Gross was.
It wasn't an overreaction, he genuinely was turd and looked completely out of his depth that day.
As you still have access to WACCOE, I can thoroughly recommend reading through the Ben White thread from his first game MOTM performance through to us eventually selling him to Arse for 50m+, despite assumptions that we would be getting relegated that season and have to sell for peanuts.
Are they? They finished just above us in a season we were decimated by injuries, had European distractions and a manager that seemed to have checked out from March onwards.
And since then we’ve been spending quite a chunk of the massive transfer income we’ve been accumulating over the last 3...
Relative to our standing at the time (2nd season in Championship) that was actually a really exciting window where we certainly showed ambition. If memory is correct we signed:
Bruno
Bridge
Kuszczak
Crofts
Orlandi
Spanish Dave
Hammond
Jobbie
Not a bad set of players at Championship level.
I think attacking players tend to be rotated far more often and used off of the bench more often than a defender - they're generally the first to be used as subs to change a game early in the second half. They also seem to be more susceptible to injury if overplayed, particularly pacey wingers.
I’m not so sure that that’s true - although who knows with Trump. Campaign managers want to know whether or not campaign messages are cutting through. The last thing they’d want are sugar-coated polls giving them innacurate feedback.
Yeh, a European time zone really helps you feel you lived it properly for 2 weeks. In LA, a lot of the swimming and athletics finals will take place as between 1-4am our time 😔
Nah, a lot of those silvers have been really close to golds. They and a number of the bronzes could well be converted to gold in 4 years. The athletics has been particularly impressive.
