I will be going over for some of the British Lions tour next July/August so looking forward to hopefully catching some Aussie Rules when over there. Last time I saw any live games there was 1987 when they let you kick a ball round on the MCG after the game!
My only other claim to fame for...
They have renovated the whole stadium, spending about £15m in the summer on top of opening the previously closed lower tiers on 2 sides. That’s despite announcing plans for the new stadium where they want to be in 5 years time with a site that is 10 times the size of the site St Andrew’s is on...
I’ve got a couple of tickets for sale in the Tom Dollery lounge, which are basically the best seats in the stadium (apart from the hospitality ones). It’s behind the bowler’s arm and you get use of the member’s lounge behind with its own cafe, bar etc. They are in row B, block 233, aisle seat...
That was unbelievable. I was at that game, the Glenn Murray late winner one.
I know a few Blues fans and they were as outraged at that sacking as they were about the Eustace/Rooney one. If having owners making bad decisions meant you hate a club, Albion would be top of the list way before...
Couldn’t disagree more. My favourite non-Albion football song. Loads of history from the club‘s past and WW1, some great phrases in that song that resonate with the fans. Unique too in terms of no one else singing it. But if you don’t like it you don’t like it.
One of the best football songs around. Each to their own. Let’s all sing the template songs instead, you’ll love it at Watford, Bournemouth, QPR, Fulham …. I never tire of that old favourite ‘xxxx is a shithole, I wanna go home’.
The new owner, Tom Wagner, has mentioned this NFL link several times. I don’t really follow it so don’t know for sure, but I’d be stunned if there wasn’t some plans along those lines, even if just the odd game.
The one thing they have never been is a dull club to follow. Not always for the right reasons but never dull.
They are always in a promotion or, more often these days, a relegation battle. It’s like a soap opera off the pitch. The only team to win a trophy in the West Midlands for 30 years...
Not sure where you are getting your information from. Nothing wrong with the roof at all, it was the girders under the lower tiers that were the problem, and the stadium has been fully open for several months now.
The new site is 60 acres, with plans to build something on the same lines as the Etihad campus. The same team that designed the Etihad campus is already on board, I understand. There will be room for things like the training grounds, hotels, entertainment venues etc. It’s certainly ambitious...
60 acre site acquired near the current stadium:

The off-field plans seem to be in marked contrast with what’s currently going on on the pitch!
Fair enough, I guess most I have sold previously were season tickets so that explains it. I don’t mind paying it as such, I think it works well as a system, I just hadn’t kept up with the costs but now I can’t say I didn’t know!
