From what I've seen, France and England are quite similar to each other. If we were to play them again in this tournament, it would certainly be a great watch!
Agreed, but the majority of the teams that you mention are teams that England would be expected to beat. The only exception would be Germany but, even then, we had the benefit of home advantage. I think Gareth Southgate lacks that "winning mentality" that other managers possess, that is why we...
I'm pleased with the result, not so much about the performance. I thought that we made too many mistakes of our own and it felt that the team was disjointed. I worry that if this trend continues, we will get punished by the top sides and knowing our manager I fear that will happen.
I understand we've been fairly successful under Gareth Southgate but you are taking those final positions out of context. We had fairly easy runs in those previous three tournaments but we were defeated once we faced a top side (Croatia, Italy, and France). Many worry, including myself, that...
Bellingham has really come into his own this season. He has a good type of "arrogance" which shows his passion and desire for the team. I think England has been lacking that character in previous tournaments. The midfielders are fairly young, so they don't contain that experience like Kroos or...
Agreed. Serbia were on par, or even better, than England throughout the match - and that is also reflected in the statistics. If we want to win the EUROs, which is certainly achievable with our squad, then we must perform better in the following group matches. I'm not indicating that Serbia is a...
I understand that it was not all bad, but it was not all good either. We seemed very sloppy with our passing and, if it wasn’t for Pickford, Serbia could’ve snatched a point or even three against us. That said, we take the three points from this opening match and I hope we can improve against...
There are certainly players who regularly perform worse at international level compared to club level (Foden, Saka, etc). I’m not sure if that is mainly down to Southgate, as manager, or they do not have that “arrogance” about them at England like Jude Bellingham, for example.
