From my experience having done it myself 3 or 4 times, sometimes it's the only way to fit in a run/parkrun but the "look at me" can be a bit of a motivation too!
Not sure what this thread is doing on page 4, it's almost like we won today!
Can I get a table update, did parkrun this morning hoping that I have benefited from marathon training, set off too quick for the first mile but managed to hang on for 18:20 and a age grading of 73.91%
Seems the begging for elites to enter a few months ago didn't get much of a response, don't get me wrong 2:29 is amazing but would only just scrape elite entry requirements for Manchester and the London championship entry time is 2:40
Roll call for Manchester Marathon tomorrow.
I'll be there in wave Red B running my first marathon. Anyone else there?
Hoping for sub 3, not sure how I will get on as not convinced that the volume of training was enough and lost a few key sessions to COVID.
Looking like perfect running...
Was quite happy on Saturday with my best ever performance at the XC Nationals in what must be some of the stickiest mud ever! Won't say it was the worst XC conditions ever because it was a lovely sunny day and nothing will ever be as bad as the Southern champs in 2014!
Having been running for more than 10 years, I finally gave in and signed up for a marathon (Manchester in 6 weeks).
I've been following the Daniel's running formula (4 week cycle for upto 40 miles per week) and today ran a 1:20:40 half marathon in fairly windy conditions.
My question is, given...
Main issue is blisters on the tips of the toes but also had a toenail go black. My guess would have been the socks being too tight and squashing the toes together as I also occasionally get blisters between toes. Never got on with the twin skin socks but might try the X socks.
Also didn't...
Anyone have any tips or recommended socks for long runs.
Not sure I'm going to have any toes/toenails left by the time Manchester comes around!
Pretty sure shoes are ok size and haven't previously had loads of issues but these long runs are killing my toes.
I have size 12 feet with...
Possibly unwisely on a day that was supposed to be a short easy run on the plan, I managed to get a respectable marker down for the year with a 18:49 at Nonsuch parkrun (AG 72.01%), will definitely pay for it on the long run tomorrow morning!
Think when you get to brown you have to be able to do both, which is a problem for me as I struggle with contours and my compass work isn't muc better!
