I was probably on the same train! End of December so the train was rammed with revellers going up to Edinburgh for Hogmanay. I managed to position myself by the buffet bar - very convenient! A load of Geordies got on at York (as per your post) and we had a great time chatting football related...
Yes, you’re right Liverpool did start YNWA as their anthem. Celtic fans apparently adopted it in 1966 after hearing it at Anfield when they played Liverpool in ECWC - some Celtic fans insist they were the first. Oh well.
Plagiarists? Same as every other club’s fans. Even Liverpool fans, it was Celtic’s lot that started ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.
I think we’re safe with GOSBTS.
I’m planning ahead for this game hoping, praying that Southern or whoever do not do the usual Yuletide disruption act. As it stands I can travel to/from on West Coastway to Brighton without any significant problem. Not possible from Southampton but I can drive to Chichester and train it to/from...
Talk of beaten track! The Centurion, actually in Newcastle station, is a great pub. It used to be the first class waiting room in years gone by. On the last two occasions we played Newcastle that was my first stop off point for a pint. Really friendly and the Geordie fans very welcoming...
Your post reminds me of a conversation I had with a Tottenham fan. I asked him who Spurs fans consider their most disliked rivals are? The answer? Arsenal, obviously, Chelsea - the animosity goes back to the cup final of 1967. I asked about West Ham as the Bubbles fans always go on about how...

“ Achtung! Englander...
I used to get the Tiger and my brother had the Victor. Both were great comics with unbelievable (absolutely!) story lines. So the Tiger had Roy of the Rovers but the Victor won with Alf Tupper - the Tough of the Track, Gorgeous Gus - the aristocratic lord who owned and played for Redburn Rovers...
Yeah, well, I’m still creased up after watching the Albion smash Villa in the 1910 Charity Shield game. Altogether now - Champions! Champions! Champions of England! :drink:
Back in 1969 I was a student at a College Of Further Education in Sussex, I’m not telling you which one! I was in my first year doing a City and Guilds Hotel and Catering course. This culminated in doing a a five hour practical exam at the end of the summer term - in other words to prepare, cook...
Your comments very much underline what happens with any new player joining the club. It takes time to adjust, and improve, with some it may take longer than expected. Cast your mind back to players that have had a huge impact in the success of the team - Shane Duffy was awful in the first few...
