After a bit of research, looks like Bradford Parkrun for me on Christmas Day. Lister Park promises wide smooth tarmac surfaces - sounds great - three laps consisting of two long downhill stretches and a ‘teeny weeny’ uphill section - parkrun irony?!
Took it fairly easy today - too much pre-Christmas indulgence - for a steady 23 mins.
I make that 45 parkruns for the year to date - so if there is an award for ‘parkrun nerd of the year’, I think that leaves me and @GNT level and looking to share the award?
Good to see you too Penny’s...
Low point would be tripping up near Chanctonbury in August - it ‘kin hurt and I’d been training well up to that point.
Highlights - running 20 miles in France a couple of weeks later and realising I was ok to carry on training, Warsaw marathon - just a really fun weekend and also hitting 250...
Jeez - and I used to look up to you so much - now I’m only about 15 behind you.
I reckon you were cursed as soon as you ‘played away’. I’m sure the stats will bear this out.
Did they have the Mariachi band and confusing distance signage?
Pretty happy with Mince Pie performance of 1:16:48. Fell once in the mud and lost a bit of confidence on that stretch despite having trail shoes on. Kept it going though and ran 1.5 mins quicker than last year when I think...
I have a friend who was so traumatised by 2017 that she will not re-enter the event, even though her running has improved significantly (she was 4th woman last Sunday).
I clearly remember someone getting blown into a barbed wire fence and like you wondering if I could stop myself coming down...
My fifth Mince Pie in a row- unofficial times from Garmin
2015 - 1:16
2016 - 1:13
2017 - 1:25 (the storm year)
2018 - 1:18
Looks like being quite windy on Sunday but otherwise conditions should be quite good.
Really? Five years since that first meet up? So much has happened during that time but it also seems like yesterday!
On the running front I’ve done seven marathons since then , passed 250 parkruns and completed numerous other events. Thanks to everyone here - NSC runners has been a big part of...
Calling Dr Yes - at least that’s what I’m planning on doing!
I can confirm it’s Prom at 9 and Hove Park at 10:30. Extra measures in place to cope with crowds experienced last year.
Getting back to Lewes and then to the game may be a stretch though - I’ll probably cycle as long as the weather...
Yes - very enjoyable morning. one of my favourite events and I think the first time I have run it in anything less than terrible weather which probably contributed to running six mins quicker than last year.
Bring on the Mince Pie!
Good running knocky1 and @GNT. We ventured up to Ifield to give that a go. Very narrow and twisty course - can’t say I liked it really but the miserable weather didn’t help. 22:22 and 17th place - satisfactory. Back down to three more Sussex PRs to complete the set.
Marathon training...
