Dunno, I mean, the body language is dreadful. That was someone who lost their individual battle and gave up in that moment. Fans hate to see that from their best players, let alone players who should be really trying to prove and establish themselves.
Compare and contrast Rutter who battles and...
In fact I was someone who defended in strong terms Wieffer’s mistake on Saturday using that exact term, scapegoat, that you’ve just used.
It doesn’t change the fact that he was desperately poor tonight and heavily contributed to what turned out to be their winning goal, just as he sadly did...
Poor clearance under pressure, it was panicked and bad defending all round. Wieffer stands out for losing a physical 50/50 in his own box, to a player several inches shorter than him, then walking and watching as he scores. It’s REALLY bad, regardless of everyone else’s mistakes.
I hope he comes good, I really do. But he’s going to really have to fight hard to turn this around technically, physically and mentally. He needs to get his head down and really fight for his place on the bench going forward, and perhaps reassess things in January.
I thought Wieffer was appalling. He had other players save his skin several times, and the referee did too.
3-2 down, chasing the game, ball at his feet in the centre circle with a few minutes left. He chips a cross-field ball to Adingra to challenge an aerial 50/50.
I’m very concerned about...
He was literally measured in with a sprint he made as the fourth fastest player in the league. He might not do it often, but he can do it. I’ve seen it with my own eyes.
Another slow start and Steele looked very nervous there in the first 7-8 minutes. Or perhaps overconfident. Whatever he was I didn’t like it.
Adingra looking good, Gruda is going to be some player - some silky touches. He goes down quite softly so I expect he won’t get every freekick he wants...
