As I understand it, this is just one of several possible peace plans being looked at by Trump's team.
In it, I saw this glimmer of hope for Ukraine:
'Mike Pompeo, who served as Mr Trump’s secretary of state during his first term and is now tipped to head the Pentagon, has criticised the Biden...
Those multiple attacks on Ukraine occurred at the same time as Putin sending the message to Trump that he is open for dialogue....
I believe Putin will push his demands to the nth degree, which will take time to wade through, and for Ukraine to mull over, kick around a bit, and then throw out...
Well yes, but back to the oil price, which is crucial to propping up Russia's economy next year.....
The article explains how Trump is seeking to increase US oil production. This would drive down the price of oil:
'Energy Intelligence projects that by May 2025, the price could reach $50 a...
Very good piece.
For me, point 8 is the crux:
'The "peace agreements" being floated would condemn millions of people to misery, occupation and fates worse than death.
Talk of "recovery" is hollow if Ukraine is left vulnerable, waiting for the next attack. Investments will not flow, refugees...
I'm getting mixed messages.
Events have overtaken me, but before I saw the report I posted at 10.45 am of the Russia-friendly peace deal seemingly proposed by Trump, I was going to write something rather different. But the detail contained in that post came across as genuine, and written by the...
It would appear to directly contradict a report I saw, in which Zelensky reported an 'excellent' phone call with Trump.
Either one or both reports is/are false, or Trump is shaping the deal.
It's rewarding Russia.
I kind of expected a de-militarised zone. But under Russian control?
And why delay Ukraine's entry to NATO for 20 years? So that Putin has the opportunity to die of natural causes?
There seems to be a recent spate of sharp observations on here. This just won't do.
This thread is for armchair generals, who emit a loud groan when we get out of the chair, by which time it's Friday. Plodding dinosaurs who read a lot, but retain very little, and who can't remember where they...
Mostly? The ones that matter? What are these filtering decisions based on? Have you shared them with UK security services?
Are you aware of any Russian activities off the west coast of Ireland? Did the Irish let us know about them, or did we find out about them another way?
Or Slovakia. We did share our information on the Novichok expedition, and it was right that we did.
But there is no obligation on an EU member to share security information with us, if they are not in NATO.
The fact that Hungary may be passing on info to Russia, is another discussion, and does not detract from the value of Britain being party to EU security considerations.
When Russian agents deployed Novichok on UK soil, our government at the time, even though in the midst of leaving the EU...
Paul Warburg cites this as a fundamental reason why Russia has not used any nukes - because it knows its air defences are crap, and they will not stop any nukes lobbed in return. (y)
Discussions around security, outside the NATO remit, will be held at that EU table, which I would prefer HM Government to be a) aware of, b) make contributions to and c) be a party to any joint decisions which affect UK national security.
Caspian Sea eh?
Whisper it quietly, but a Trump win could be just the propellant that Ukraine needs to get this war over the line.
I wouldn't rule out their beating of Russia almost on their own. Slava Ukraini.
Military support being pulled from Ukraine is a given. But I'm concerned now that the Russian Federation won't now collapse. Putin will want sanctions lifted as part of any deal.
Don't give Putin a lifeline. Don't.
