    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

It's not in anyway justified under international law, despite whatever bullshit narrative Putin may peddle, and Putins only intent is to eradicate Ukraine and Ukrainian culture, that is genocide. US ATACMs have a range up to 300km, ours and French storm shadow/scalp cruise missiles up to 550km...

    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

Nice handy article from the Metro, how and what to do with an incoming Nuke. https://metro.co.uk/2024/11/20/step-by-step-guide-surviving-a-nuclear-attack-happens-22032339/

    [News] John Prescott RIP

It was classy and again like Prescott, many wont agree with Hagues politics, but he too is a genuine decent nothern fella. It feels more authentic coming from a political rival

    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

Interesting section on CNN about the Russian missile attack on Dnipro. After first saying it was an ICBM (first ever firing of one in war) west is saying it was ballistic and not intercontinental.l and Ukraine also back tracking on ICBM Then adding, that all of Russias ballistic missiles were...

    [News] John Prescott RIP

Whatever you thought of his politics, 2 Jags was a real character and a genuine Northern Bloke. It would be great if our club did something to honour him at our game v Stains? Cannot underestimate what he did in helping us get the Amex, without which its hard to imagine anything like the crazy...

    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

It's hard to tell imho. The west could have easily armed Ukraine to win long ago, and I'd guess the reason they haven't and have tried to manage to a stalemate/negotiated settlement is for the reasons you suggest, the 'what next' vacuum of a politically defeated nuclear Russia and Putins...

    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

Good article of the present inflection point by Anne Applebaum. Totally agree also, there is no stalemate/peace option. Putin eventually wins or he loses and nothing in between. https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2024/11/biden-trump-ukraine/680632/

    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

Again who knows for sure, but many have begged to differ. It wouldn't cause end of war from Ukraine side as they're fighting for very right to exist. Just yesterday they said that even if they did get eventually over run, they'd go into hills with guns and bombs to continue guerilla war like...

They've got plenty on kerch Bridge apparently, and I read that there's pads protecting Putins residences. Not so many for military infrastructure or oil refineries!

    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

I guess the bigger problem is very few western capitals have real leaders of courage or conviction. They're all focus group based escalation managers, more worried about their personal opinion polling than the courage of convictions. I agree with you, that Putin wouldnt have done it with a...

Could do with a nicely timed frantic mass ATM withdrawal by Russian public. What better than a consumer lead panic run on the banks. Hope Budanov is lining up a few disinfo/information bombs!

I think opposite, threads is social network not so much news/interests. The feeds section on Bluesky means you can choose literally any topic of interest and pin its feed on your homepage. Its such a cool idea that Zuckerberg has said he's going to copy it and try and do similar at Threads

[Technology] Has anybody come off of Twitter / X? How easy did you find it?

Almost identical in actions and sentiments. Bluesky is a breath of fresh air, like peak Twitter 10 years ago, civil, friendly, no rage algorithms boosting bots, Elon Musk or MAGA BS, proper moderation, and love that you can pin your own threads/algorithms rather than have the one size fits all...
