Not sure I get your point? Nunez never wanted to come here at any point, VVD was out of our price range in the Championship and Kudus wanted a release clause that we didn't. Are you saying that it's an example of good or bad business?
Unquestionably, this has been a big emotional hit to see him leave. Not comparing quality of course, but I haven't felt this sad about a player leaving since Calderon left. A Brighton Premier League line up without Pascal Gross feels unthinkable, but with any luck (and no shortage of data) I'm...
I think what's helped is his longevity. We've actually signed a few "rabbit out of a hat players", the problem is they've mainly been sold before they reach any level of legendary status. I count my blessing every day that people only started to notice Gross after he turned 31
Agreed, he's nowhere similar to Romano as he claims all the info has his own, whereas this guy just shares it. Besides you can't miss Romano's updates because as soon as he tweets, his weirdo fanboy army copy and pastes precisely and tweet it again 300 times within about 3 mins.
In all honesty, I suspect that the "realistic buy-out option" from our perspective is "there isn't one". Why on earth would we sell a 19-year-old Argentina full international right at the start of his career after he played 36 games for us last season?
I agree on that point, but they still work for the players. Whomever pays them it built into any transfer. My understanding is that agents get a standing fee from the players and the transfer fee cuts are essentially "bonuses"
Totally agree on this too, especially the 2nd piece. The clubs have...
He can justify it because he's been offered it elsewhere so that's his perceived worth.
I've said it before, agents are paid to do what the players ask. This is nothing more than the continued rise in players knowing their value in the food chain. Gone are the days when a kid can get railroaded...
This, plus losing twice to Palace would likely mean that we were in relegation form and I'm not up for that.
Also, I really struggle to be that bothered by Chelsea. I'll boo for the whole panto element of it when we play them, but as hideous as they are in our eyes now, they've been this club...
To be honest, I though he came of looking a right dick. A slight bump on the hip from a L1 journeyman and the Chelsea comes out.
Stick up for himself? In the PL he's walking for his reaction. Needs to learn to curb that temper.
I'm not sure the modern game really allows for that lack of control from a management team. Maybe with older pros on specific regimes with PTs but we have best-in-class facilities, it'd be insane if we then just went "Crack on lads, get fit or don't"
Not necessarily. Contracts typically end on 30th June each year and a lot of senior pros take time to weigh their next decisions before taking their potentially final contract somewhere.
I expect a lot of them have Saudi offers as well as more financially lucrative offers on the table, so...
An excuse can also be a truth, depending on your agenda.
"You slapped my kid!"
"I did, but he's a pain in the ass"
It's different to the previous approach of:
"You slapped my kid"
"No I didn't"
"I just watched you do it"
"Nope"
"But I'm right here, my kid is crying. I just watched you slap...
I agree. This is his first trip away. Do people think De Zerbi, or Potter, or Hughton, or any manager doesn't start off by setting the baseline expectation in a team environment?
The fact is, after a historic season, the club finished it in a funk. De Zerbi was in a complete sulk from January...
