They should demand the city cough up half the money or they'll move the franchise somewhere else.

Works every time, here in the land of the "free"

Taxpayers shouldn't be on the hook for one single penny here.

The future profits of this stadium and the club, which will be massive, are going to be the Glazers and Radcliffe. They should put their hands in their pockets and find the money, it's not like they don't have it.

I understand they aren't asking the taxpayers for money for the stadium, but for the surrounding infrastructure. I wonder how separate those two pots will be. Also, if the infrastructure they are requesting be built for them wasn't going to be built anyway, but is necessary for the success of the venture, that shouldn't be local or national taxpayers money.

They can't be a ruthless business when it suits them, then a community asset at other times.

Manchester has a rich unique industrial heritage, yet that stadium looks like it has been parachuted in from Qatar - there is nothing that screams "Manchester' about it.

It will costs twice as much as the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which itself cost £1 billion. That is pure vanity, especially as they are a club £1 billion in debt, spunking money on shite players and sacking tea ladies.

I think the Spurs stadium is wonderful, and the Everton stadium is superb - both classy in their way, but this looks like a red Millennium Dome.

Bottom line - it's the sort of project Donald Trump would approve of, and identify with.

A lot of tea ladies are going to have to lose their jobs to fund this, there's no such thing as a Free Lunch, certainly not at United !

I like it. But i fail to see how it's in keeping with the local area. And it is, er, rather circus-like in appearance.

Doubt it will happen. And a real shame they can't somehow sort the existing ground out, which is iconic and impressive, but also a sorry mess.

Brighton factually.....

Are you suggesting something grey and more in keeping with the sky of Manchester, like this a concrete factory type building perhaps with a chimney as a symbol of the north. I quickly drew this as mock up of what the new stadium could look like...
