There's a lot of good lines in that film. Another one of mine is: 'You know, I'd almost forgotten what your eyes looked like. Still the same. Pissholes in the snow.'
“Still got your sense of humour then Frank”

I practically know that film backwards, love it. Imagine my surprise therefore when I went up there for the first time recently to discover that it’s a gorgeous Georgian city rather than just a load of bleak ‘60s windswept council flats and hideous concrete car parks.

Can very much recommend the soundtrack album too: it has a load more pieces of music which you only hear fragments of in the film, including the magnificent and eerie Hallucinations.

We
That scene was filmed in the ‘Long Bar’ which is in fact the Victoria Comet opposite Newcastle station. On my next visit to Newcastle I intend to go into said pub and click my fingers at the barman and say those immortal words. :drink:
We were in there for breakfast after the league game last year. They’ve got some old pictures up showing what is was like back then.

I'm currently listening to the audiobook of Don't Look Back, You'll Trip Over: My Guide to Life by Michael Caine, it's presented as an interview with Eddie Marsan playing Michael Caine, it's well worth a listen.

If you don't like the ending of Get Carter you can always watch the 1972 blaxploitation film 'Hit Man' which has more or less the same story but the lead character doesn't die in the end. (only 5.7 on IMDB).

Some of my favourite lines:

"Tell me, Doreen, did the police say anything?"

"Ever put a penny in a slot machine in an arcade at Westcliff-on-sea? Well 10/1 it belongs to Cliff Brumby."

"Now listen to me, you hairy-faced git. I've got the film and enough evidence to put you away for a long time."

"I'm gonna sit in the car and whistle "Rule Brittania."

:giggle:

Bryan Mosley, aka Alf Roberts, aka Cliff Brumby, was a devout Catholic and reticent about taking the part in the film due to the amount of violence portrayed.
He was also concerned about the amount of porn in it. Glenda had cracking tits. Britt Elland was very pretty but I think I've got bigger ones than her now!

For those of you who are aficiandos of ‘Get Carter’ do you know how many deaths Jack Carter was responsible for in the film? Six definitely - maybe more?
Six I think off the top of my head:

Albert - stabbed to death at the back of a betting shop.
Brumby - punched unconscious and thrown over a multi-storey car park.
Peter - shot on top of a boat.
Glenda - trapped in the boot of a car and drowned.
Margaret - lethal injection and gagged.
Eric - clumped to death with a heavy gun.

A couple of others to consider :

The ‘heavy’ in the woods at Cyril Kinnear’s mansion when Jack walloped a tree branch across his head.

The family that were in the car that got crushed when Cliff Brumby landed on it after Jack tossed him off the top of the multi storey car park.

IIRC, the hitman who shoots Jack at the end can also be seen in the railway compartment during the opening titles.

And this is brilliant:
