More pressure on Ukraine... that's what it is.
I think the Tuesday meeting may be a disaster, or it gets by on a thread...then the next Zelenskiy Trump meeting will be ambush number 2.
As that post showed earlier of a senate type meeting..... What could a Russian asset actually do, if not the same as what Trump is doing?

Trump says Russia didnt want to start the war and wants peace..... but Russia did start the f***ing war, is mass murdering civilians, bombing Ukraine into the stone age, demanding territories and no peacekeepers, and flatly refusing any real negotiations.

Trump Says Ukraine wants War and doenst want peace - Ukraine is defending themselves from an agressor, if they dont shoot back they die, and they still have said consistently they want peace, have proposed troop swaps, endorsed Starmer/Macron ceasefire plan etc.

And yet Trump is punishing Ukraine and doing nothing about Russia

Its totally warped and f***ed up

Exactly. The video from @CHAPPERS was perfect in spelling it all out.
The prof that the reason could be kompromat, Krasnov, business in Russia, idolizing a dictator...whatever it is, Trump's actions are exactly what Russia wants them to be. So, one way or another, he's a Russian asset.
Someone important needs to fully denounce Trump on the world stage: Macron, Starmer, von der Leyen, Erdogan, our King...someone. But I fear they all feel they have too much to lose either personally or for their country.
But there has to be a bigger fightback other than side comments in speeches, or from the excellent commentators like Snyder.
I'm at a loss as to what to do with my anger...and I'm very angry.

If Zelenskiy gets ambushed again I hope he feels he can reject the deal. At the moment he is the only person to stand up to Trump in public, and it's possible he's been counselled by some Europeans to avoid doing it twice (a guess).
Snyder's article above (from @GoldstoneVintage ) was compelling for me. So much personal animosity in the Oval office... not only about a minerals deal.
😡😡😡

This snippet is so revealing!
Thank you for that. At least there are now political discussions happening about this in the US.
It'll be quashed though ... Musk will say something untrue and derogatory about Merkeley tomorrow.

Very good post. I find the Tim Snyder article compelling as well.

Note that it was originally posted by @GoldstoneVintage. The speed that this thread is going, it isn't easy to read everything that is posted. I nearly missed it. It puts things in a whole new light. I'm thinking of the calls for an election; they think Zelensky is not a legitimate leader. Snyder thinks it is because Zelensky is Jewish. Think of the series of anti-Ukraine actions. Far more than any of us have thought fair or just.

Ah yes, sorry @GoldstoneVintage , twas your excellent post 👍.
If the threats and actions recently aimed at Zelenskiy had been made by Putin, Lavrov or Solovyev, we'd have thought them to be normal, totally in keeping with the disgusting tactics, propaganda and psyche of the Russian state.
But the fact they are made by (supposed) allies of decades, good allies historically, we give pause for thought, wonder if it's part of a clever US negotiating tactic that will eventually succeed in bringing a solid peace, despite it's tortuous path...

However, it's all in plain sight, from Trump, Vance, and Musk. I now accept it as I see it, as the behavior of the enemy. (I'd still be happy to be proved wrong though.)

I just don't trust him. Is this to deflect from those accusing him of favouring Russia over Ukraine? He's still aiming for Ukraine's capitulation.
He was only 'strongly considering '...(Hey, Vlad, are you happy with that wording? Ok👍). If implemented, it will probably be pulled two hours later, after a 'strong ' call with Putin.
BS one way or another IMO.

Did anyone notice?

'Based on the fact that Russia is absolutely "pounding" Ukraine on the battlefield right now......'

He is perpetuating the narrative that Ukraine is losing the war. The very narrative that Zelensky corrected him on in the Oval Office.

But Russia is pounding Ukrainian civilian targets, not military targets. Bombing apartment blocks, hotels and hospitals is certainly brutal, but it isn't strategically effective.

Perhaps I'm reading too much into it, and it was just Trump being clumsy. Yes, that'll be it.
Yeah, I noticed too. Trump doesn't miss an opportunity to portray Ukraine as weak and Russia as strong.

This article by Timothy Snyder is long, but I found it to be a very lucid argument.
It's very good, thank you. Quite a tough read (emotionally) in places, but very convincing to me.
In which case, unless Zelenskiy turns up with a signed copy and goes all kissy kissy to the supremacists...the ambush will probably be repeated.
