I hope we win and also I hope palace win - wow never said that before. I’d love to play them at Wembley!
No, you'd love to beat them at Wembley. Losing to them at Wembley would be hellish.

I guess that's the gamble. Would you take the risk of losing to them for the joy of winning..... maybe I would. Anyway, Forest to beat first.

That is a very valid point - we will be far more disadvantaged than them by the timing of this fixture. Let's hope the match is on the Sunday.
Japan play Saudi at home on Tuesday 25th, that's a tight turnaround for Mitoma, but he is quite a machine.

Cameroon (Baleba) play at home on the 24th and Ivory Coast (Adingra) play Gambia (Minteh) in Abidjan same night. It's basically the same time zone so less worried, although Lamptey, if he still plays for Ghana (?) will have to trek all the way to Madagascar.

South America is trickier, big jet lag and they play later because of the time zones. Brazil are playing in Argentina early morning 26th UK time, although Pedro only made one squad in 2024 as a late injury call up, so although he in the 52 man preliminary squad0every chance he won't be involved (but may go home regardless). Gomez will play for Paraguay away at Colombia and Estupinan is going the furthest, to Chile for Ecuador, both again playing early morning 26th.

Not worried about the Europeans, the Dutch play their last game of the break on the 23rd, Sweden have a game on the 25th.

Is that all of them? Think so.

What about Forest I hear you ask? Well, Murillo will be with Brazil we can be fairly sure, although most likely just on the bench and Chris Wood is on his way to New Zealand, although their game with Fiji is on the 21st, so plenty of time to get home and shake off the jetlag.

In Africa Nigeria (Aina amd Awoniyi, if they are picked) are at home and Sangare will be teaming up with Adingra, probably to compare premier league bench notes.

The rest of them are European or not in squads.

Palace often lose in games that matter and at Wembley too !
But Palace won their last game at Wembley that mattered, and they've won all the games between us that really matter too. The first time in 20 years we played (5-0), the first team to win away at the Amex, the play-off semi etc.

Please don't make me go on!

I don’t know if I could take the stress of playing Palace in the final. Losing would be unthinkable.

Well please don't - but because we lost 13 years ago to them in the play offs or a few months ago in the PL doesn't really mean much now in terms of how the next match will turn out - Wembley or not.. We've beaten them plenty of times since and PL games are important. Without those 4 points in 22/23 we wouldn't have qualified for Europe. But yes. It would be stressful and potentially very painful !

How about we ( Forest ) beat you ( BHA) and then you won’t run the risk of playing them ( Palace), open offer 😉

Just putting on my tin hat and getting in my fox hole 😬.

Not sure about Mitoma. Often looks to me like he gets tired (niggling injuries?) after a long run of games, and that can affect him. He was a bit off his usual form at Newcastle and I think he knew it (I suspect he is his own harshest critic).

The annoying truth of the matter is that Palace tend to overperform when playing against us: even when we’re miles above them in the league, say. It’s one of the reasons, along with the ludicrous current crazy over-policing of the fixture compared to years gone by, that some of us find that aspects of this “rivalry” can get a bit tiresome: it can be counterproductive.

Anyway the best way to avoid all this is for Fulham to thrash their pathetic arses from here to kingdom come while we get ready for Wembley Way. Job done.

The idea final for me would be the Middle Class derby - Brighton v Fulham. We can all eat nice cheeseboards outside Wembley, maybe with a nice bottle of Sancerre
I love the sound of that. I might even do a cheeky booze cruise to stock up on Sancerre beforehand. I tell you, the game’s gone.

We beat them 4-1 last season !
We beat them 3-1 with ten men !
We beat them 3-0 in the play off season and so on. I think we just remember the defeats - fair enough - not the wins etc of which there have been plenty in the last 15 years.
