An acknowledgement from Welbz that the team dropped the ball this winter because they got ahead of themselves being so high in the table at the end of November: “It’s important for us in our group that we don’t look too far ahead. I feel like we’ve done that before and we’ve maybe derailed and started getting distracted. We’ve just got to focus on the next game, control what we can control and we go from there.”

Who’d have thought when we signed Welbeck to many cries on here of “No thanks, past it sick note” that we’d end up with him being such an integral part of our rise up the table?

Is he a Brighton Legend yet? I say yes, yes he is.

Agreed. Really underrated as a signing.
The FA Cup tie v Newcastle will (probably) be his 150th match for us. He's now made more appearances, scored more goals for us than he did for Arsenal and Man Utd,.
Jonathan Wilson argued on the Guardian podcast this week that if Southgate had taken Welbeck to the Euros this summer as back up for an (injured) Kane - we'd have won it.

Nice words about FAB, too, considering their huge BUST-UP...

Personally, I'm glad he didn't!

Edit: Blimey, just looked it and if he scores six more goals for Brighton, that's more than his goals for MUFC and Arsenal COMBINED. What a guy. Also, it's not his 150th PL match, it's his 150th in total. He's on 129 Brighton PL games.

Struggling to believe those stats. Have you got a link. 21 PL games in total for MUFC and Arsenal? Nah!!

If that really is what they've done, then it's beyond stupid and completely unprofessional. You only have to watch a couple of press conferences from any club to know that a manager will only talk about the most important game, which is their next one.

The 150th in total that @Greg Bobkin refers to is I believe total games for Brighton

I said on another thread a few years back that he’s one of the most cost effective signings we’ve made.

If we assume crudely that premier league survival equals £150m income and 40 points equals survival, thus putting a value of £3.75m per initial 40 league points, his winning goal on Tuesday night is worth £7.5m to the club which far exceed the reported £50k a week we pay him.

* I know we are probably safe regardless of the extra two points earned by his goal
* no doubt he has contributed to scoring in many other single goal victory margins (couldn’t be bothered to look it up to validate)

He’s not Pascal value for money on goals and assists but he’s still well covered the costs
