If its a fine, everyone else moans but it goes away. If its a point deduction, whether 5 points or 50, its going to rumble. We could find ourselves with European football pending the outcome of their appeal, and the bigger the deduction, the more teams are going to face that uncertainty of what competitions they will be in next season. That will be not fun.

Regardless of whether it should, it will never happen. The EPL etc will not risk their finances by taking on City in a further fight that could end up with City suing the EPL for £billions in damages, nor will the EPL want to have a competition without City due to the potential reduction in revenue streams by having one of their global teams out of the league.

In a way it surprises me that anybody still thinks that there is anything that top trumps money in the business of football. etc. I wish it were different but it is where we are now.

A 100 point reduction (or a smaller one significant enough to relegate City) has seemed the most likely outcome to me for a while.

A 100 point penalty would make the EPL look tough, it would also only inconvenience City for one season whilst they rebuild their aging squad in a league the will be far too good for and then they will be back with the slate wiped clean, cushty.

Given the scale of City's cheating this would amount to no more than a slap on the wrist even though they will milk the victim card for all it's worth. Anything punishment less than this basically renders any PSR, APT rules worthless as the richest will be able to challenge them.

Theyll be crossing their fingers at Portman Road, or will they?

2 down plus Citeh, or 3 down and another Championship team up?

Two seasons.

The one in which the deduction is imposed - knocking them out of European qualification (unless of course they got relegated but still qualified by winning the FA Cup...)

And the following one, that they spend destroying Reading's 106 point all-time points record, and winning the Europa League, to immediately qualify for the following season's Champions' League

It sounds like a god deal for City, cheat your way to several trophies over the course of a few years, spend a rebuilding season in the Championship (which you win with ease, if not with record points) and come back to the PL refreshed with a clean slate.
Then financially cheat again, knowing what the "punishment" will be.
If the PL do this (and I've no reason to doubt that they will) then other clubs may well follow suit.

I've been listening to this yesterday, I hardly ever reach episode 2 of something but completed all 4 in a day. Gives the full backround on how the story broke and what they are accused of.
I think this is where Dullards quote comes from as he is featured.

IF that happened, how many players would they actually keep?

So you're saying it's all sorted by 9pm?
