Given Ferguson hasn't really looked right for a year or so, I think this is a slightly mad bet.

Welbeck and Pedro to win this by 4 clear goals.

I will take over 4.5 if that’s the offer?
Booked £10 a point

Oh, and 'Pedders' fits more easily on the spreadsheet than Joao Pedro,
and is more informative than JP, and less (I dunno) rude (?), than 'Pedro'.
I don't refer to him as Pedders in real life.
FFS.

Well, I didn't.....
But I will now. Oh yes. :lolol:

Come on Pedders, give us a goal!

I’m delighted the game has truly begun.
Another chance for the boys in stripes to increase the gap tonight. Fingers crossed.
On my side WHs win on Saturday isn’t the best outcome despite encouraging performances off the bench for EF. Really needed them to not get that kind of result for him to have any meaningful impact.

I’m intrigued by this, did you actually mean it or just being controversial at the time?

You genuinely believed Ferguson, who’s barely looked look like a Premier League footballer for 18 months, would score more goals playing for a worse team than two of the best strikers in the Premier League playing for a better team?

If only Kudus hadn’t passed behind him in Saturday

My belief, and it still is, is that Ferguson is a very good player.
I’m not going to go over what has and hasn’t happened to him or get into the whole guessing game of why things didn’t work out here. However, we also saw a player two years ago who looked like he had it all. And I was watching him then and thinking “bloody hell this kid could go on and score goal after goal after goal after goal”. I vividly remember posting on here something along the lines of “if he stays fit you could imagine him having a run of 10 games where he scores almost every game, and if he can stay relatively fit you could see that happening throughout his career”. Unfortunately, that was a couple of weeks before one of his injuries which have obviously taken their toll on him.
So, looking at West Ham under Potter, I’m seeing a team who are at least likely to improve, with a manager who we know has a habit of creating chances without anyone actually taking them. And it was easy to imagine a scenario where Ferguson gets into the team alongside Bowen, and starts getting chances. The question would then be has he got it in him to score goals, and I think he’s proven that he does.
What I’m not doing here is saying Ferguson is better than Pedro or Welbeck. What I’m not saying is I’d rather Ferguson scored more goals for another team than our players scored for us. And I’m certainly not saying that I would want West Ham to do better than us.

Welbeck is probably in my top three favourite Brighton players of all time, and I truly believe his impact in a few years will be seen as astronomical. In hindsight, and thanks a lot to our medical staff, we’ve had a player who perhaps was a little above us and has now become a vital part of the way we play and our success in general. He also undoubtably makes our other players better. Both on and off the pitch. And, in terms of Pedro we’ve all seen the kind of player he can be when he’s focused and firing cylinders. However, he’s had a little bit of a wobble over Christmas and Welbeck has been struggling with injuries which we know is a big problem for him. In an alternative reality, Ferguson could’ve scored in his first game. I ended up watching the second half and he looked really really good. Energetic and lively.
I think there’s no question that a fit Pedro and Welbeck are going to score more goals than Ferguson over five games or a whole season and obviously if they are our players I’d want that, but I also truly think that if Ferguson finds form he could go on a run where he ends up scoring half a dozen goals in a few games.
So, I don’t think that’s me being controversial.
The way I see it, plenty of people on here react in the moment, they do say things that are controversial, many seem to say things that aren’t based in reality, and the statement I made could be charged with any of those things, but ultimately @Harry Wilson's tackle is an amusing poster so his challenge to my statement and subsequent bet was happily accepted. It’s likely now that our boys will run away with this and I’m more than happy for that to be the case. But, at the end of the day it’s £30 I’m gonna pay at the end of the season to a good cause, knowing it’s both money well spent and has been the result of our players performing. So for me it’s just a bit of fun with a win-win outcome.
