Could the Forest debacle turn out to be a positive for our season?

I'm saying if we go on to win all our remaining games (cup and league) then maybe yes.

Rested, because of the number of players we now have available. If they were 'out' today they'd definitely be 'out' 3 months later don't you think

Yes.

On May 8 2023, Brighton lost against a hopelessly shite Everton side with 5-1 without the manager, players or fans giving a shit about it because things were already euphoric and lovely.

That day, the culture of "I don't give a f*** if we concede 4-5-6 goals because we play the most amazing football ever!" was born, and people shrugged.
People shrugged when we conceded 6 against Villa, 4 against Luton, 4 against Roma last season, and this season when we conceded 4 against Chelsea.

This shoddy "no one gives a shit if we lose with one goal or five goals" would always end with someone slaughtering us like this. Fans said "no more" and the players finally discovered the concept of "professional dignity" where you can't just stop giving a shit once you go two goals down.

Super valuable lesson and the end of a rather long lasting carelessness that I found highly annoying.

Looking back now - I'm not sure it was such a big turning point. We have obviously responded fantastically, with four wins in a row. But looking at the form table for the last seven PL games (putting the Forest game right in the middle) - it's more indicative of the Forest match being a blip in a decent run where we were picking up anyway?

What's going on with Palace's away form?

You can go back further than 7 games…we’ve only lost 2 in the last 13 winning 7 of them. Forest was definitely a blip.

I cared a lot more about the 4 against Luton than the 7 against Forest. Forest are a side that can hurt good teams. Luton weren't.

And for me, the draws against Leicester, Wolves and Ipswich earlier this season were worse than losing to Forest. These were games we should have won easily, but didn't.

Also, unfortunately , I half expect us to get spanked again at some point, because we only need Webby and JPVH to pick up an injury or suspension and we have no centre halves in a similar way to how we were short in midfield v forest.

Yes, one with bags of experience of playing against Harland or Isak or Watkins!!
We had already lost Igor before Cashin was signed, Dunk is clearly not fit, Veltman who can play CB is also out. That leaves two fit PL- ready centre halves, one of whom has an appalling injury record. I am just saying it is feasible we end up with Weiffer or Beleba playing emergency CB before the season is out, and I am not sure how well that will turn out.
