I wonder how Matt feels about everything atm. Best player in Scotland to benchwarmer who appears to be slipping further down the pecking order week on week.
Great professional and sweet left foot… I hope he isn’t regretting his move

He'll just have to wait. There's 5 in front of him at the moment. He hasn't remotely take his chances when he's been given them and has been, frankly, a bit of a fanny when I've seen him play.

I’m not sure I’d be quite that harsh but I’d agree that he is way down the order atm and has yet to take his chances.

The question probably is, does he go on loan next season to acclimatise to English football, or do we offload and try and recoup our money? Apart form Gomez looking good, we've got wonderkid Yalcouye coming back next season, as well as possibly Buonanotte with a season's PL experience in him, and Enciso(?). Oh....and Osman, maybe.
Still feel pretty much the same about Wieffer, TBH.

I sort of agree with this.

It’s starting to look as if we’ve spent a lot of money on two players who we didn’t really need in the end. Nothing against their ability but they have dropped down the pecking order as the young lads have stepped up their game. Wouldn’t be shocked if one or both MOR and Mats went in the summer.

I'm just starting to feel thankful it's only 2 out of 6! Three or four months ago it looked like it might be more than that! Still waiting to see what Gruda brings, though.

I think Weiffer is useful now and will definitely come good. Useful as a physical replacement for Baleba. Especially if we continue to utilise Jack all over the place.

It's MoR who's the odd one out who doesn't have the physicality to do what Baleba or Weiffer does or the passing levels of Ayari or Gomez.

Hopefully he'll figure out what he's for and can force it, but will have to be satisfied with waiting.

they’ll get their chance….we’ll need a good sized squad when we compete in Europe next year

I think the issue is that they both cost a lot of money to be useful squad players. Yalcouye will come in as Baleba’s rotation option next season, and they’re both falling down the pecking order due to the performances of others. I’m sure the club won’t pass over the next superstar to facilitate MOR or Mats’ place in the squad.

I’m not writing either of them off yet, I just think if a reasonable bid came in for either of them this summer, the club’ll take it and move on.

Thought Wieffer did well when he came on tonight, was just what we needed at the time - brought a calmness on the ball. He did well Saturday too.

I like him and I’m confident he’s going to develop into an important player for us.

Re: O’Riley, not as convinced but looking forward to see how he gets on next season after a full pre season. He’s not shown much but there have been one or two moments of class that show there is a player in there.

Haven’t needed YET……..if we’re in Europe next season (or the following season) we definitely will

Not sure why so many are so sure of this, he's only 18 years old and been playing right midfield in Austria.

We have had a trio of great centre mids but that doesn't automatically mean Yalcouye is next. Especially when you look at the encouraging signs from Gomez last night, in addition to Hinshelwood, Ayari, Weiffer, Baleba if he's still here.

The move to a flatter 2 in midfield won’t help him either. I think he’s shown some real glimpses of quality, but that quality has been shown nearer the opposition box than going towards ours, where he looks a bit lost.

We have got to remember the injury he had on his debut though. That’s got to have shaken his confidence a bit.
