[Albion] How close is this squad to being top 4?

Depending on which particular calculator you look at, we’ve had around the 3rd most difficult schedule of fixtures so far.

I cannot find a side that has played a tougher set of fixtures so far this season.

Our last 5 games has been Spurs, Newcastle, Wolves, Liverpool & Man City. We have walked away with 10 points which could/should have been more

This squad is closer than we’ve ever been to a top four finish. There will be a lot of points dropped by all teams between now and the end of the season. After we play Arsenal on the 4th January we could potentially be above them, let that sink in.

When we can beat a limited but determined side who low block us, then we will know... at the moment we only beat sides who come out to play.
Think we'll get a good indication over next half a dozen games although I don't expect Bournemouth NOT to come out and play, they are a good side with a decent manager

For me it simply comes down to our ability to routinely beat teams at the bottom of the table. If we can start doing that, like the other top teams do, we have a real chance.

The home games against Southampton and Palace and the away game at Leicester over the next few weeks will tell us everything. 7 to 9 points and it’s game on, anything less and we can forget it.

we are close ... consistency and competition for places both need to continue

be lovely to arrive there after last game of the season, but not before as we would no doubt bottle it after that

18-24 months away.

Europa League/Conference League positions are possible this season but top 4 is just too much, this is a young team and it will have bad runs of form.
...still sticking to this comment from September.

That said, the weakness of the top teams has certainly opened up a window where not even a two month long form struggle could rule teams out from CL.

I'd probably take 8th if it was offered though.

We may only need to be 5th to get Champions League next season as EPL coefficient is currently no.1, just need Arsenal / Liverpool / Villa to get to next round of Champions League

Want Europe don’t want champions lge be very happy with conference lge
Me too. Walk, don't run - at the moment - and maybe always - the CL is likely to be a step too far. A season in the (potentially winnable) Conference League, although not as lucrative as the others, would be a wonderful learning curve in European football (and a fantastic chance for those stalwarts who travel to Albion matches all over, a chance to visit the likes of Qarabag or Bodo Glimpt)!- is that at Bodo or at Glimpt I wonder?
