Just wanted to share my good news.
I had a phone consultation with the oncologist this morning, and , to all intents and purposes I am cancer free!
My PSA level is now undetectable ( under 0.03), and although it may rise slightly when I finish the hormone treatment at the end of April, they are very pleased with the way things have gone.
I will have blood tests every 6 months to monitor my PSA but I am feeling confident that the bastard disease has been beaten.
Good luck to all those currently receiving treatment, and stay positive.

Great news.
Same here for 6 monthly checks.
It took me a while to get used to going from 3 monthly checks to the 6, all 0.01 thus far.
Tis a great feeling to be clear.

Sad news from my extended family but another loss to this disease. There is an Albion connection; whenever you look at the steel above you in the stadium, his firm provided it. It was him that told me how critical promotion to the Championship was in terms of stadium construction timing.

Has anyone on here had radioactive seeds inserted into their prostate? Is that what radiotherapy is? A colleague 's son who lives in Portugal is having this treatment at the moment and it seems to be going well.

Depends on patient an their issues.

Apologies if this has been discussed. My brother in-law is 60 and was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 Prostate Cancer. He is considering a relatively new treatment called Proton Therapy.

Here is what I sent him… from a world renowned hospital here in the States… and some stats that look very promising.
Most on here know only of their PSA reading rather than a stage X.

Same again, never heard of radioactive seeds. I've had Hormone Therapy which is an injection of something every three months which stops the body making testosterone, side effects are the end of your love life and tiredness. But in three months my PSA reading went from high to less than 1 and a check up showed the cancer was almost gone and no longer a concern.
