Not something to worry about (previous poster) and agree with this (quoted) post 100%. The only issue I have with our policy is that if we only replace with new potential and not keep top players (offer higher salary or reach Europe), we'll never reach the next level (ie. winning something or reach CL). Every season becomes a "transition" or a rebuild season.
Its not exactly "our policy"... since 1872 or so, the best players have joined the best teams that pay the best money. Globally. Policy or no policy.

I can't follow your logic here. Small/medium size clubs who try and compete with the big boys on salaries end up with players on huge wages who they can not move on. The bigger clubs can survive this better due to their higher revenue. Smaller clubs tend to go into a downward spiral, new recruits are needed but it becomes impossible to finance this without first shifting some dead wood.

Eventually we will get caught out like this and our time to return to the Championship will be nigh. I hope we can duck and dive bringing in fresh new talent for a good few more years yet.

That's exactly my point. Either we sell/rebuild constantly or aim higher, take a risk trying to keep the top players and win something, but potentially end up financially struggling (especially if not reaching Europe etc.) It's not impossible either way, we've seen Leicester win the PL and the FA Cup, but then gone down... and we all know the "Southampton Model" with not really winning anything (but loads of money in the bank) and how that ended up.

But I reckon some team - probably Chelsea - will offer stupid money for Baleba
And there's a good chance that some team will offer stupid money for any combination of Mitoma, Rutter and Joao Pedro

Clubs still have to adhere to PSR and there are other players these clubs will be looking at too, some who have release clauses or are at the end of their contracts, some playing for the likes of Bournemouth/Brentford/Wolves/Forest or in Europe/ further afield. The likes of Arsenal might spaff their entire budget on Isak.

It might depend on the effect of Man City winning their case on sponsorship income.

If all of a sudden owners (or oil states) can pump in tonnes if money through fake company sponsorships again with little regulation, then PSR is dead.

It is not impossible we can make champions league. If that happens then silly money won’t do it for our players, it was have to be ridiculous bids. I am saying over 150 million for Baleba, 100 million for Mitoma etc. absolutely crazy money.

Clubs had to conform to PSR last season but that didn't stop Chelsea spaffing money on Caicedo and Fernandez. They have plenty of academy players they can flog (and, as I understand it, they're not even close to the spending limit). I do think they will struggle to buy Mitoma though, as they won't want to give him a long contract (which has been their fix).

I think it's almost certain that Baleba will be off this summer - someone will stump up the dosh. The others I'm not sure about. Clubs will be snapping up the likes of Delap, Hutchinson, Dibling, Cunha, Wharton etc. Isak will be the subject of big money bid and Newcastle will use the money to buy Guehi. So, there may not be the spare money around for Albion players

Well Chelsea are a different animal to everyone else, and circumnavigated PSR by selling things to themselves, although as I understand it they have to be more careful when in Europe. It looks like their main objective this Summer is a striker - so that will likely be their big money purchase.

Not necessarily - any of them will be able to double or more their own salaries, a well as moving to a ‘big’ club so CL qualification won’t make as much difference as some think to our chances of retaining anyone who is desperate to move

That assumes a sudden injection of sense into Chelsea's transfer policy!

The players usually decide whether to move or not. Maybe Mitoma is not an isolated case and others are enjoying their time here and have no burning desire to move on just yet. Money is not the only incentive.

Think it’s likely that Mitoma will go and probably Joao Pedro. C £140m in incoming transfer fees will mean that we’d need a huge bid for Baleba to let him go. Summer 2026 would be my hope.
